My old XBox 360 (2007) model started red ringing so I ultimately bought a new slim (4GB model). I took the 20GB drive from the old xbox and plugged it into the new one and that worked, but now I needed a case to go around the old drive since it was completely exposed. This case fit perfectly and the xbox has been working just fine. Thanks

When my original XBox 360 died last week, I was happy to be able to save $100 by replacing it with the 4GB Slim instead of the 250GB model. I knew 4GB wasn't enough storage but that adding the 20GB hard drive from my original XBox would give me plenty, since it was still only half full after six years. Microsoft made life a little difficult by changing the form factor of its hard drive enclosures, but this inexpensive shell solves that problem easily and elegantly. You'll need a T6 and T10 screwdriver to liberate the old HD from its enclosure, unless you're like the guy on YouTube who just used a hammer. The Xbox Slim will recognize your old XBox 360 HD as an external volume: problem solved! (Of course, thrillseekers can just install the old XBox hard drive in a Slim without any enclosure at all, but even I'm not that cheap.)

My old xbox 360 Pro died it got the E74 error & bottom right light in RED so I purchased the new Xbox 360s 4GB internal memory, and it was perfect until I got the Game HALO:REACH and I realized I could not play certain modes (Firefight, Score attack, and Campaign all in multi-player) so I read i needed a HDD for that, so I was waiting to buy a microsoft brand until the aftermarket came out, but shipping stuff to where I live they charge 56% custom fee on gaming consoles, so I read about this Item, and bought it, so I grabbed my Xbox 360 Pro HDD 20gb, disarmed the casing, and just placed the laptop HDD in the new xbox 360s case I got for $9 snapped in the cover, and fitted it in the xbox 360s, and works marvelous no problems and read all my saves and everything I had in it, I saved over $80 just buying the casing, BUY IT BUY IT, its worth it.

Had an old hard drive from my original (White) Xbox that I gutted for the new S I recently got. The install of this enclosure was super simple and the case was definitely worth it, in my opinion, to keep the bare drive seated properly in the hard drive bay of the Xbox. It felt cheap but once it was in there, it felt fine. I recently bought a legit Microsoft HDD off a buddy for cheap so I needed to remove the one I had put in with this enclosure. The strip of fabric that is left outwards of this bay to pull the case out with broke very easily and made the removal a HUGE PAIN. I ended up having to use a Leatherman tool to pull the case out, thoroughly breaking it at that point (although I did not care in the slightest at $4 and the HDD was fine). I actually think I messed up my Xbox too but since its just the HDD bay, it really doesn't bother me. If you are ready to be "final" with you HDD install and this case, you should be good to go; especially for $4. But be wary if you ever need to take it out.

What can I say, this thing is awesome! I got a 4gb slim for free when I bought a laptop but I couldn't get all of the functionality out of it, so I bought this enclosure and a 120gb OG 360 harddrive for a grand total of $38.00 and BAM!!! Full functionality. Gotta love it.

I didn't want to spend an extra $100 for the 250GB Xbox 360, so I bought the 4GB model and then removed the old hard drive from my dead unit. I bought this enclosure, installed the drive and put it in the new unit and I saved $100. Even if you are considering the 250GB unit, it's better to just get this enclosure and then a 500GB laptop drive for around $50, and you'll save money and get more storage space.

A friend sold me his 4 GB Xbox 360 Slim, which I used to replace my old Final Fantasy XIII Super Elite that was acting up. I ended up taking apart the 250 GB hard drive enclosure that came with my old Xbox, taking out the actual hard drive itself, and putting it in this case so that I could install it in the Slim Xbox. The process took just a couple of minutes and was a complete success.

I docked this case one star for the somewhat flimsy plastic tabs that are used to snap it together; one of them bent and nearly broke off in the process of snapping the case together for the first time. Other than that, it is exactly what you'd expect from an Xbox hard drive enclosure despite being a knockoff. It even has the "250 GB" ribbon tab that you pull on to release the hard drive from the console.

By the way, if you have installed games on your hard drive, they are tied to the Xbox console you installed them on. I had to reinstall all of my games before my new Xbox would use the installed images; until I did that, it ran everything off the optical disc.

This does exactly what it's supposed to do-it holds a 2.5" laptop hard drive for insertion into your Xbox. Since my old, fat Xbox broke I decided to get one of those new slim ones. I opened my old 20gb fat hard drive enclosure using Torx screwdrivers sizes 6 & 10, took out the hard drive and popped it into this enclosure. After that it's a simple plug-and-play into the slim Xbox.

The only thing that bothered me was the fact that the pull-tab on it is labeled 250gb. Maybe it's just my OCD.
