Mine was ready to go. Easily transferred all of my gaming info onto my hard drive. I also have the 4 gb 360 slim.

No, 500GB is the largest acceptable drive at this time. You can use a larger drive but with the needed formatting, only 500GB will be seen by the 360.

it still reads from the cd drive with this hard drive, its just like a standard hard drive but made for the slim. I am still using it after a few months and no problems with it so far. What they mean by that statement is that after installing the game data CD onto the hard drive then it will ALLOW the cd rom drive to stop and just run it off the hard drive thus making the 360 run quieter.

you have to transfer everything to the hard drive in order for it to work on Xbox Live

The 360 will see the full 500gb with updates and games im at 470gb left
