dats da year dis song came out. @ the time, i wuz rollin wit scottie j, so I was "in da know" bout da hip hop scene. Jay Z has released some stuff i dug (ie Empire State, the record w. Linkin Park) This isn't really one of my faves. Honestly, @ the time i thought Jay would just be another fart in the wind, like Coolio or sumthin. I wuz like "He ain't neva gonna b like P" (rememba, Master P, was at da top of his game during dis era)

One of the FIRST real hits for Jay-Z back in the day. I got ME listening to him, can't lie. This was just THE theme back in Brooklyn. From then, until now...congrats Jay. Still doing it real big.
