Mostly Source of Ideas. Very British!,
By B. Marold "Bruce W. Marold" (Bethlehem, PA United States) - See all my reviews (TOP 100 REVIEWER) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Hard Landscaping for the Garden (Paperback)
Ann Marie Powell's 'Hard Landscaping for the Garden' and her earlier book, 'Hardscape' are both excellent sources of ideas for designs and materials, but there is next to nothing on basic techniques. If you are interested in doing a hardscaping project and know exactly what it is you want to do, skip this book. But, if you have time and some money on hand to try some ambitious things (or more likely, hire a contractor to do ambitious things), this book will give you lots of ideas. In fact, the book almost seems as if it is oriented to the professional, especially the professional working in Entland, as all sources of materials are British. I'm even surprised there are no Italian or Spanish sources for ceramics and terra cotta and the like, as almost all fine terra cotta in the States is from Italy. Buy this for novel ideas, but not for 'how to'. |
