Mack Bolan's In Hard Pursuit Again,
By
This review is from: Hard Pursuit (Executioner) (Mass Market Paperback)
This was a fanastic read. Fast paced, with non-stop adventure and excelent character development. The secondary characters are personable and easy to get attached to, leaving the reader concerned for their safety. The villian is truely vile and clever and the final confrontation with Bolan is dramatic and well presented. I'm eagerly awaiting the next book from this particular writer.

Hard Pursuit is Hard to Read!,
By Apollo Reader (Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hard Pursuit (Executioner) (Mass Market Paperback)
I have been a reader of this series for many, many years. And like all long-running series with multiple writers you have your good ones and your bad ones and your so-so ones.
This one was written by newcomer Douglas Wojtowicz, who shows promise but tends to have written a storyline that showed promise, but unfortunately fell to low standards when it comes to dialogue and characterization. Hero worship goes to an all-time here here and quickly becomes tedious to read, with no character growth beyond a bad comic-book impersonation. The overall set-up of this action/adventure novel was a sound one, with Mack Bolan going along a ride with two agents who are escourting a well known and highly dangerous terrorist. (That's where reality went out the window. If the terrorist was so dangerous, they wouldn't rely on such a small guard contingent.) Then of course came the resultant shoot down of the plane by the terrorist's cohorts, ending with the plane downed in the desert with of course leaving the terrorist leader without nary a scratch. Then comes the resultant series of unbelievable and colorless battles with Mack Bolan and his two comrades who are all outgunned by planes, helicopters, motorcycles, and heavy weapons - all unable to bring down a mere 3 men. B-movie expectations abound here in all areas, making this one of the reasons this book has terrible selling power and only two reviews. Hardcore fans know the writers that are far superior in all 3 series than this one. Writer's that have such much more grown-up plotting and chracterizations and more believable action sequences as Chuck Rogers, Mike Newton, Nick Polatta, Jerry VanCook, and Jon Guenther. And for newer fans who don't know any better, there ya go. |
