5.0 out of 5 stars Country From The Heart
Hard Rain Don't Last is one of the best CDs I have bought in a long time. Each of these incredible songs is from Darryl's heart and will touch yours. I have had the pleasure of meeting Darry twice and he is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He is an amazing singer and songwriter. Darryl Worley has a wonderful voice. A voice you can listen to over and over...

3.0 out of 5 stars Super!!
I really enjoy this CD, every time I put it on, I like it even more. He has a flare with his words like "old" Jimmy Buffet songs, great phrases and stories. It's worth getting and I will buy the next one and the next after that!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Darryl Worley- A breath of fresh air, December 7, 2000

I listen to all kinds of music, but was raised on Country, which remains my favorite. In the 80's, you could have traditional country songs played on the radio, followed by a contemporary country song. The 90's wasnt like that at all, but I feel that Traditional is definitely coming back. Alan Jackson, and a few others kept it country, but were out numbered. Now, with the help of Brad Paisley, Craig Morgan, and Darryl Worley, and a handful of other new artists, I feel that they are carrying the banner for traditional country music, and will reclaim their spot on "Country" radio. Darryls new cd is very fresh and exciting. To be honest, the first single didnt catch my ear, but man, the second single "Good day to run", I knew this was a REAL COUNTRY singer. So many great songs, but my favorite is ballad called "Second Wind". The first time I listened to that song, it brought tears to my eyes thinking that if Keith Whitley were alive today, thats the type of songs we'd be hearing from him. Darryl put together one excellent collection for being the debut cd, and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves Traditional Country Music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great new country!, July 29, 2000
This review is from: Hard Rain Don't Last (Audio CD)
With so much pop-country on the radio today from people like Shania Twain and such, it's a relief to know that there are some newcomers that still know how to do real country music. Darryl Worely obviously has listened to George Strait's music, it shows on cuts like "A Good Day To Run", and especially, "Too Many Pockets", which sounds just like a George Strait song right down to the steel guitar in the background! He shows a bluegrass edge on "Who's Gonna Get Me Over You?", and shows his wacky side on "If I Could Just Be Me", one of the best on the album, highlighted by the strange guitar sound at the end. Songs like "Sideways", "Is It Just Us?" and "The Way Things are Goin" are also well worth hearing. Darryl is the best thing to happen to country music since George himself!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Country, November 8, 2002
This review is from: Hard Rain Don't Last (Audio CD)
I have to say that out of all the New Artist(s) putting music out there, you can't get anymore Country!
There is not one "bad" song on this CD. All songs are wonderfly written and sung.
Look out Alan Jackson, Darryl Worley is on your tail and gaining speed!

This one is a keeper!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great album!, June 27, 2002
This review is from: Hard Rain Don't Last (Audio CD)
Darryl Worley's debut effort is definitely a no-gimmick straight-to-the-point country album. In a day and age when pop and rock have infiltrated country radio to the point where one forgets what country ever sounded like, Darryl is a breath of fresh air. Darryl exhibits many different styles despite staying true to his country roots. He displays powerful messages with wisdom in songs like the standout title track and "Those Less Fortunate Than I". In tracks like "Feels Like Work" and "Too Many Pockets", he lets go and has some good ol' country fun. In "Sideways", he rocks out not with electric guitars but the beautiful fiddle sounds. "A Good Day To Run" is the perfect midtempo record that captures what the album is about and starts the journey perfectly. Darryl Worley's sensitivity is also obvious in "The Way Things Are Goin" and "Second Wind", where easy-to-relate lyrics are made fresh and accessible to listeners. Even in the slower moments, Worley still presents an appeal that captivates the listener and draws them in. This is a record that gets better after every listen. Hats off to a real traditionalist.

5.0 out of 5 stars some inside information, March 9, 2001

this is to all of the darryl worley fans out there. thanks so much for all the wonderful reviews and especially all of the "God bless yous". darryl has just returned from shooting his third video. the single and video for SECOND WIND will be released, i think, sometime in the last half of march. it was shot in savannah georgia. i haven't seen it yet, but he said that he thought that it will turn out great. don't let the beach scenes fool you into thinking that it was a warm summer day; it was forty degrees and the wind was blowing 25mph. he said that the film crew were all wearing parkas while he was running around barefoot. brrr. he has read all of your reviews and is very flattered that y'all could think so much of a plain ol country boy. thanks from all of us hometowners as well. we've always loved him and we are glad that you do too. God bless you all.

A friend and I recently met Darryl while he and two friends gave an amazing accoustic performance in Portland, Maine. I thought the music was incredible! In fact, not long after the performance I went out and bought his CD. I have been listening to it almost non-stop. If you are contemplating buying it...don't wait anymore...you MUST get it! In the brief time I spoke with Darryl and the stage presence he carries with him (he is so funny!)...I have grown to think Darryl is just a real sweetheart of a man...a real person who is not afraid to let you get to know the real man behind the music. If you like music from the heart...you will LOVE Hard Rain Don't Last!

5.0 out of 5 stars BACK TO THE ROOTS OF COUNTRY MUSIC!, July 19, 2000

A great album that brings back memories of old. Today's country music is more pop than it is country, and it is good to finally hear a man who knows what country music should sound like. From the title cut, Hard Rain Don't Last to the smash hit, When You Need My Love, Darryl Worley keeps the music real. He wrote most of the songs on the album from his real life experiences, and at age 35 he has a lot to tell. And I can tell you this, YOU NEED TO BUY THIS ALBUM!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard Rain Don't Last , but Darryl Worley is sure to, July 19, 2000

This CD is a blast of new country at it's finest! Darryl is sure to be the next Garth Brooks. Growing up in a small town, Darryl fought his way to where he is now and his music shows his struggle. Listen to the ache of abandonment in the song... "The Way Things Are Going," the yearning in "Second Wind", the swingin' good-time Romper "Sideways" and the freewheeling "Good Day To Run,". Even the song of unnecessary frills with a hint of humor "Too Many Pockets" -- and remember that country music used to be the voice of the working people who lived life just as fully, felt just as deeply and coped with the getting-by with dignity. These are Darryl Worley's people, and Hard Rain Don't Last is for them. I had the chance to meet Darryl at a local radio station as he promoted this CD. Acoustically with two friends he actually performed all the music located on thisfirst CD. Darryl is the country boy that all women love to adore. Pick it up today! This CD is number one!

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm not a big country fan and I bought this CD..., August 19, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Hard Rain Don't Last (Audio CD)
I am not a big country fan and I bought this CD. In this case, video sold the music. I happened to catch the video of "A Good Day to Run", liked it, and liked Darryl. To be honest, after its initial play, I was rather ambivalent about this CD...a little too country for me. Then, I listened again....and again....and again...and again....These are great songs! And how can you not like someone who makes the effort to thank so many people who have believed in him, that it takes up an entire page of the CD insert, with the tiniest print?! Darryl Worley co-wrote 10 of the 12 songs on this CD; very admirable, indeed. My four favorites? "A Good Day to Run" (a great "first thing in the morning" song), "Hard Rain Don't Last", "Second Wind" (which makes me want to take the next jet south to the Gulf of Mexico and sit at the water's edge), and "When You Need My Love". I'm so happy that I bought this CD!
