Product Description

The debut game from Polish developer Flying Wild Hog, Hard Reset is a shooter set in a dystopian, cyber-punk 25th century in which humanity has been confined to a single city-state and is constantly fighting against intelligent machines. Gamers take on the role of Major Fletcher, a mercenary who is tasked with protecting a massive network of digitized human minds by battling the mechanical warriors that have invaded Bezoar city. Players use a variety of upgradeable weapons to blast through destructible environments and eventually square off against massive boss characters. This "Extended Edition" offers gamers five new levels, four new enemies, a new backstory, a new boss, and two new survival modes.

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
you have to play hard reset one then two.it seems to look rather stupid at first until you start really playing it, has a lot of twists turns and some really crazy crazy man-made live machines to destroy , like gas tanks with legs, it isnt easy to stop a lot of these things but your guns are cool and the electric barrels on walls help zap em if there in position, many levels and great boss fights where every thing comes at ya u just run run shoot run run die;;; interesting game, very hard to tell about cause ive not played anything like it. neight one nor two is dissapointing, good clean fun no blood or gore just man vs machine;

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Surprise and an Entertaining Game December 15, 2013
I purchased Hard Reset from Steam. This game is absolutely amazing in comparison to most of the games I have seen cranked out by bigger studios. The game play reminds me of old shooters, but enhances on them in every way. So much of the environment can be destroyed, it provides an element of strategy. If you're low on ammunition, use an electrical turbine by shooting it to electrocute pursuing enemies. This gives the game heavy replay value. The difficulty changes the game a lot as well, on Hard, you see where they get the term 'Hard Reset.' The game has two weapons with a main and alternative fire mode, but they have incredible upgrades that make it seem like you have 20 guns as the weaponry includes grenade launchers. The story is effective, it utilized the cyberpunk context to not take away from the action, but has some surprising depth relating to science. Ultimately I enjoyed this better than most big-name titles that I've played in the last year.

2.0 out of 5 stars Mandatory activation required March 4, 2014

You have to create an account with the maker after the installation. Then they have to send you an activation email before you can play. After waiting two days for the email had to contact customer support to get my account activated. Game seems OK after that.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay game but nothing legendary January 1, 2014
There really isnt much to make this a compelling gaming experience starting with a 'story'
that to be honest I didnt even follow. Its told through comic book style cutscenes and
incomming messages that dont absorb or invite a sense of urgency. The impressive graphics
and cyber punk nature of the levels is fascinating and invites 'sightseeing' , unfortunately
the level layouts themselves are bland and straight forward with little else to do than
move from one 'plot' point to the next. You cant even backtrack to pickup items so its grab
and go all the way ( not my style , I prefer to make mental notes of where med kits and ammo
packs are scattered in case I need to fallback. In this game your path is constantly cut off
behind you with fire, falling objects ect. thus forcing you forward . I like to creep and
survey the terrain before barreling in and like to toss a few explosives into the unknown
area to see if I can shake anything loose. That doesnt work here as the enemies dont
materialize until you reach a certain piece of geography on the level , a piece that is
often enclosed with little manuvering room at that. H.R. isnt the first game to do this so I
dont fault them but it deflates some of the fun when all you can do is move forward and wait
to be attacked.Speaking of which:
The enemies in this game are all robotic and of similar designs and similar albeit limited
attack methods. They're fast , direct and like to slam into you while some fire mortars and
rockets , They're also faster than you and battles quickly get reduced to wildly firing into
smoke ,fire, electrical discharges and the like, all very chaotic and frenetic.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Old School Fun September 19, 2012
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Well, found it at another store for $9.99 and decided to purchase the game. I heard a lot of good about the game but until you try it you would never know. This game is definitely old school (in the line of doom 3, quake, etc...). Nothing fancy, shoot first, ask questions later.

The graphics area really cool and some of the bosses are massive to say the least. I run all details maxed out at 3840x768 on a single MSI 6950 2gigs and the game is smooth. Eyefinity is very well supported and even FOV options are available in the menu. The only problem I ran into was creating an account, a bit of a pain but other than that all good.

The story line is very basic, not going to win an oscar on that one but that will do. Now I really like the weapon system and upgrades. Now I have a all in one shot gun, machine gun, rocket, and grenade launcher :) Enough to clear some space in the ennemy ranks.

I don't feel like the difficulty is that bad. I died a couple of times but nothing frustrating. What I did notice is that you have to use the environment to your advantage and that will make your life much easier. Look for explosive and create a chain reaction :)

Bosses are easy as long as you pay attention to the weak spots highlighted on their bodies. Once you figure it out, they might be big but they will come down "easy".

The negative would be that the ennemies are becoming repetitive, not much variety but blowing them up is still fun.

Honestly this is a great game, very basic, great graphics, and more fun than some of the bigger titles out there. Can't wait for the Doom 3 BFG edition to get as much fun.
