Editorial Reviews

Urban album of the year / independent album of the year Dual 2006 aria award winner 2006 release. As a group that has been together for over a decade, Hilltop Hoods are no strangers to doing things the hard way with this album taking the listener on a lyrical journey through the good, the bad and the hard roads traveled that have brought them to where they are today. This much anticipated 15 track release caters to all tastes with a mix of narrative, party, posse and serious contemplative tracks. Hilltop Hoods re-arrange the English language to suit their tongue in cheek style and make listeners smile with their intelligent rhymes. Featuring infamous international guests, The Hard Road sees Omni from LA add his flavor to the jazz filled track Conversations From A Speakeasy, with UK Low Life Records masters Mystro and Braintax ripping it on Obese Lowlifes. Hilltop Hoods have also enlisted the services of fellow Oz Hip-Hop veterans Muph, Pegz, Funkoars, Mortar, Hau, Drapht, Vents and Robby Balboa on The Blue Blooded to create the freshest oz posse track to date. Obese. 2006.

5.0 out of 5 stars best aussie hip hop ever, July 6, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Hard Road (Audio CD)
Unbeliveable is what I'd say to describe this album. I heard the song "clown prince" on tripile j amd it blew me away. These guys have a very unique talent that I couldn't compare to anything else, so I got the album and its awesome. They really grasp their concept so well and it sounds sincire, not like the vast majority of US sex orientated garbage that manages to become so "hip"? If you want Unique hip hop with real plots try these guys, you won't be disappointed!

kasey barkle "he-man" (SYDNEY.... in da HOOOOOOOD!) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hard Road (Audio CD)
the hard road? not so when your listening to this album, so many gems its ridiculous... nothing in the american mainstream, or i dare say underground comes close to the sheer production value and immense rhyme skills displayed hear. P J Dellorecha (or pressure), is one of the most tallented emcees on the planet and it truly shows here... a classic if there ever was one...

and unbiased fan, me and my mate charlie got into a huge brawl with the hoods and their crew years back, and although i left unscarred, my mates charlie and the others were less lucky, still... i would be a complete hater if i said this was anything less than pure dopeness...

peace,

5.0 out of 5 stars Aussie Hip-Hop has finally come of age., June 1, 2006

It's true to say that in the past a lot of Australian Hip-Hop/Rap has been a bit of an acquired taste. Partly because the Australian accent sounded nasty when rapped (yes, I'm an Aussie), partly because the scene wasn't very big in Australia, but those days are gone now. This new Hilltop Hoods album is first class stuff. Excellent beats, mastered mixing, brilliant lyrically and some of the best flows you're ever likely to hear. Give it a go. It's worth the import price I can assure you.
