A Kid's Review

Unbeliveable is what I'd say to describe this album. I heard the song "clown prince" on tripile j amd it blew me away. These guys have a very unique talent that I couldn't compare to anything else, so I got the album and its awesome. They really grasp their concept so well and it sounds sincire, not like the vast majority of US sex orientated garbage that manages to become so "hip"? If you want Unique hip hop with real plots try these guys, you won't be disappointed!

the hard road? not so when your listening to this album, so many gems its ridiculous... nothing in the american mainstream, or i dare say underground comes close to the sheer production value and immense rhyme skills displayed hear. P J Dellorecha (or pressure), is one of the most tallented emcees on the planet and it truly shows here... a classic if there ever was one...
and unbiased fan, me and my mate charlie got into a huge brawl with the hoods and their crew years back, and although i left unscarred, my mates charlie and the others were less lucky, still... i would be a complete hater if i said this was anything less than pure dopeness... peace,

It's true to say that in the past a lot of Australian Hip-Hop/Rap has been a bit of an acquired taste. Partly because the Australian accent sounded nasty when rapped (yes, I'm an Aussie), partly because the scene wasn't very big in Australia, but those days are gone now. This new Hilltop Hoods album is first class stuff. Excellent beats, mastered mixing, brilliant lyrically and some of the best flows you're ever likely to hear. Give it a go. It's worth the import price I can assure you.

Well if you are even looking at this odds are you have heard of the Hilltop Hoods which is remarkable seeing as they are berely known here in the US. I'll make this brief. This is an excellent album. After hearing one song from them a year or two ago I quickly tried to figure out who they were. Eventually I found someone who knew them. Since then I liked them so much I imported all their albums, and this one does not dissapoint.

the hilltop hoodz (MC pressure and suffer) set the new standard for aussie hip hop with their best evar debut CD THE CALLING (i already reviewed this before). the follow up is called THE HARD ROAD! there was also a single called CLOWN PRINCE from this album on cd and viynl (I didnt know they still made viynl LOL).
the first song is a live track. RECAPTURING THE VIBE. the hook has cool singing and the beat is dope. sounds like kanye west! cool! a highlight for me is CLOWN PRINCE. this was played on triple j radio and you can easily hear why. it is a catchy song about shouting beers (you can get this on cd and viynl single as well as a ringtone). if you put the album in your computer you can see the video for this! very kool colours and animation! i was a bit confused about another song called STOPPING ALL STATIONS. this is about how the hilltop hoods stabbed someone on a bus! i dunno why maybe they needed the money. but i thought they were rich now and had nice cars. speaking of cars, the hilltop hoods used to steal cars and they rap about this on the hard road. they grew up on the hustle and you can tell. suffer and pressure are real hungry. the longest songs (here we go again) is THE BLUE BLOODED ALL STARZ. this song features pegs, muph, hau and just about anyone the hilltop hoods could find. awesome guys! the horns are cool and the bassline too. there are some more songs but theyre boring and not worth talking about so i skipped them. THE HARD ROAD is not THE CALLING! fans of hill top hoods may be disapointed with their favorite crew. but there are some dope horns and basslines here so the album is very solid. i recomend this to fans of good old fashioned auzzi hip hop. ive heard the album has gone gold (well done!) and platinum will surely follow soon! big up yoselves, suffer and presure! |
