4.0 out of 5 stars Everlasting Life, March 7, 2001
By
Brian E Noring (des Moines, Iowa United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hard Rock, Everlasting Life (Audio CD)
I bought this cd on the strength of one track "Everlasting Life" that I heard on a Gear Fab sampler. That piece is a great piece of psych rock with excellent vocals by Sharon Keel and some classic fuzz attacks from Dave Caudill. The remainder of the cd's lyrics float to far into Jesus Rock for my tastes but the music and vocals are top notch. Psychedelic guitar freaks are sure to love much of this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fuzzed Out Christian Garage Rock, November 11, 2009
By
This review is from: Hard Rock, Everlasting Life (Audio CD)
This obscure garage psyche gem was recorded in 1971. It's quite good really, and as Mr. Noring makes clear, you don't have to be into Christian rock to enjoy this.

The band's guitarist is Dave Caudil (who also penned the informative liner notes). His style should have great appeal to fans of Nuggets, Garage Beat '66 etc. A bit of distortion, occasional wah wah, and alot of fuzz. A good guitarist. The rest of the band seems to be of at least average talent, but in all fairness, they sound low in the mix at best, and sometimes rather muffled.

Male vocals are handled well by keyboardist Ken Fitch, but voclist Sharon Keel is the real highlight. She's a powerhouse, and takes control of any song she sings. She and Ken harmonize really well together and along with Mr. Caudil's fuzzed out guitar, make this album a treat.

The only fault with this record is it's barely 30 minutes long, and the already mentioned problems with the mix. Over all a good record. I certainly don't regret buying it. Three and a half stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Think "Blue Cheer"..., May 4, 2011
This review is from: Hard Rock, Everlasting Life (Audio CD)
...but without the production dollars (or the heroin). Stand out track is "You Can." Amen brothers and sister! Btw, where did that sweet looking young woman get that huge voice? Wow...really...wow! If I had known this was around when I was kid I wouldn't have wasted so much time listening to bands who sang songs about about how fun it would be to trash myself.

In case you're wondering why not a fifth star...I reserved five stars for "The All Saved Freak Band" who may have the best album of the 1970's regardless of genre with "For Christians, Elves And Lovers." Don't believe me? Find it and take a chance.
