Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Surrounding every salesman is an aura of desperation, and Fisk Centers is no exception. Getting involved with everything from the illegal adoption racket to death insurance to instant teleportation devices, Centers careens from one disaster to another in this tongue-in-cheek look at the salesman of the future. Anthony's genius for satire comes to the surface in this pithy portrait of tomorrow's Everyman. Recommended.

Anthony is hit and miss, and this one is a "miss". A "Series of unfortunate events" started by the protagonist'ss greed and gullibility- then he suddenly turns ethical, causing him to have problems in the fast paced and ethically challenged world of "Hard Sell". Another author might have made this into a biting satire of commercialism.

As soon as I got my hand on a Piers Anthony book, I have been his devoted fan. In this book, Hard Sell, is most defenetly one of Peirs Anthony's top books. In this book, Piers describes someone trying to live in a futuristic sosiety. With a smile, I give this book five stars. READ IT!

Piers Anthony always writes fun books. This one is one of his funniest and most adventurous novels. He combines many of his older short stories about Fisk Centers and comes up with a truly energetic and cleverly written yarn

Athough I am a keen reader of Janwillem van de Wetering's books, I can not recommend on this one. The novel consists of a miserable attempt at writing an international suspence roman and is hardly worth the paper it is printed on.
The copy I read was published in Dutch, which is one of the two original languages in which van de Wetering writes all his books. At that time his command of Dutch was still better than his English, later this swopped.
Though I have stuck it in my precious collection of van de Wetering's books, I am afraid I will never read it again.
