Highly Recommended - Extraordinary Gold Rush period music,

I highly recommend the CD - "Hard Times in the Promised Land" by Off to California. The period California Gold Rush era music in the CD is performed with skill and sensitivity. Speaking as an historian of the 19th Century American West, I can also state that it is accurate and movingly reflects the passion of its time. It was our great honor and distinct pleasure to utilize some of this remarkable music in the soundtrack of a film entitled "Tales of the Sierra Nevada" which aired on our local PBS station. If you like music with 19th century flavor, get this CD! I enjoyed every cut and I can't say that about very many CDs of period music. Speaking as a guitar player, the slide work on "Trudging up the South Fork" was superb! As manager of the gift store at Sutter's Fort State Historic Park in Sacramento I immediately made this CD a part of my inventory. Give it a listen. You'll be glad you did.
