Well, Brooks and Dunn lived up to their first record and made another smash. And, to my joy, they also included a club mix of "Boot Scootin' Boogie"...six and a half minutes of fun. They both have such different voices, and as they take turns singing lead, it makes for variety. Makes a refreshing change from all the solo artists out there. Plus a good mix of ballads and up-tempo songs make it a must for fans.

After such an incredible debut album, you would think that there was nowhere but down for this Country duo to head. Instead, they defy gravity and even top their first album with the release of "Hard Workin' Man". They worked hard on this release, and they come back with the same great harmonies, the great Country sound, and with a noticeable increase in their confidence.
Simply the best tune on this disc is "Mexican Minutes", a ballad of leaving the fast-paced life behind. Only these two guys could use the words "Chips and Salsa" and make it sound good. Kix Brooks gives the Messina tune fresh life. Put Ronnie Dunn's perfect Country voice into the forefront with "We'll Burn That Bridge" and the title track. His voice is full with just the right amount of twang and growl. The ballads are good on this release as well with "She Used to Be Mine" and "I Can't Put Out This Fire". Throw in a couple of upbeat tunes like "Rock My World (Little Country Girl)" and a remix of "Boot Scootin' Boogie" and you have a great Country hit.
No sophomore jinx here. These guys are on top of their game, and came through with another blockbuster album. They might be a little rockin' for Country, but they still respect their roots and create great music. This is definitely a step up from their first album and a true gem.

This album contains plenty of good-time rocking country music though there are several mid-tempo songs and ballads.
Just about any song from this album could have been a single. The five that actually were released as singles were Hard working man, That ain't no way to go, Rock my world (little country girl), We'll burn that bridge and She used to be mine. All of them were huge country hits.
Five of the songs here (Heartbroke out of my mind, She used to be mine, That ain't no way to go, Texas women don't stay lonely long, I can't put out this fire) are about women who have left their man. Aside from this common theme, they are all very different. As all the songs were original, I wonder what was going on in their lives at the time to inspire them.
The title track is about a week in the life of a hard-working man. We'll burn that bridge is about the potential of a new relationship. Mexican minutes is a light-hearted song about Americans in Mexico. Rock my world little country girl is about a woman who declines a man's offers but he still lives in hope. Our time is coming is about a struggle to maintain a relationship but it is a song of hope. The album is rounded off with a dance re-mix of Boot scooting boogie, one of the classic hits from their debut album.
Brooks and Dunn have recorded many brilliant albums but their first two albums were extra special. If you like rocking country music mixed with great ballads, you'll love this album.

I have previously purchased 2 other Brooks & Dunn CD's, so I am a fan. This maintains the style & variety we have come to expect. Title song is my favorite.

Brooks and Dunn followed up the fantastic "Brand New Man" cd with another outstanding work of art in "Hard Workin Man". Once again, the albulm was a big success. "She Used to Be Mine", and "That Ain't no Way to Go" both ended up topping the charts. Both of the songs allowed Dunn to do what he does best. They are fantastic, sorrowful, ballads. "We'll Burn that Bridge" and "Rock My World", both of which ended up at number 2, are fantastic honky tonk country songs. As is "Hard Workin Man", which one of my all-time favorite by Brooks and Dunn. The "Boot Scootin Boogie Remix" is fun, and "Heartbroke out of My Mind" is another very good upbeat song. "Mexican Minutes" shows off Kix Brooks very underrated voice, and "Our Time is Coming", "Texas Women", and "I Can't Put Out this Fire" round out a fantastic CD.
