Funny, Sexy and Good to Read, March 24, 2008
This review is from: Hard to Handle (Kindle Edition)
Hard to Handle introduces the reader to worlds where men and women fight to take sexual control over each other. The main female, Bridget, is just as arrogant, commanding and determined as the males, Callen and Dixon.
When Callen and Dixon capture Bridget things get hot and funny. Bridget's inability to accept defeat and her superiority complex over men, lend a great deal of humor to this book. Instead of responding with the traditional (and sometimes irritating) attitude of big men in control, Callen and Dixon sort of flounder at how to handle the brash woman they caught.
What I really liked about the book is that it reversed some of the stereotypes of the female/male relationship. Normally (espceially in historicals) women are the ones who "out think" the men to overcome their lack of phsycial power. In this book, it's Callen and Dixon who think around Bridget. Not that there aren't points that they don't use their physical strenght to control her (there is this one really steamy, bondage scene in the middle of the book), but they don't rely on that. They're focus is really to figure out how to make her happy with them and they recognize that brute force isn't the answer.
The ending is a little rushed, kind of like the author just wanted to get there, but the writing is good, the characters are fun and lovable, so the ending isn't truly objectionable. It leaves open the door for a sequel and I'd certainly like to read the next installment if there is one.
This is another short book by Jenny Penn and I'm liking her ability to write entertaining quick reads. It's well written, but the first chapter is a little slow. I guess it's necessary to set the stage on the rest of the book and it's really a short chapter, but still it doens't start off with that wham. That happens in the next chapter.
I will say where the other book I read by Jenny Penn (Soul Deep) is sort of a sweet love story, this one kind of reminds me of Janet Evonvich(probably mispelled that) in the sort of light hearted, goofy story that just makes you laugh at some points.
Again, Jenny Penn has written another book that is good for reading in airport while being delayed or after reading a long, serious book that left you somewhat emotionally drained.

Enjoyable!, July 27, 2009

I loved this story, but like another reviewer, thought it was too short! I found myself giggling at Dixon and Callen's predicament, thinking it was going to be easy taming their "mate". Little do they know! Now I'm off to go find more kindle stories by this author!

This is the 1st book of Jenny Penns that I found sooo many errors in the english that the story suffered. I kept getting distracted which I hate, it ruins the continuity of the story! I also agree that a follow up book or a new series would be good. Please just have someone else edit it. No offence intended.
