"Combat K" is not a hard science fiction series. It is a space opera. And "Hardcore" is a mutated, rollicking third book in the series, after War Machine and BioHell.I tell you - Andy Remic was taking some serious psychedelic drugs when he wrote this book. A condemned hospital planet, rumored treasure, Father Callaghan, Sax the Wonder Dog, desert, ice, lush green, blonde hair, red lips, nanobugs, horseradish, lovely Olga, Hapes, REC, a new and improved PopBot, a desert totem, doctors and nurses you NEVER want to visit, VOLOS. Oh, and blowing things up. This series is not serious. It is a hefty book (650+ pages) but it reads quickly, full of zany non-stop action. It is raunchy and makes no apology for it. Next on my reading list is Cloneworld (Combat-K). I am sure I'll enjoy it as much as I have these last three books.

Not hard to read and a bit juvenile, but really fun!,

It's all about fun. I read action books because I want non stop in your face action with a bit of monty python thrown in. It's a fun book

Better than Biohell, but not as good as War Machine,

If you are looking for a quick easy read with some hard hitting in your face military scifi, this is a good book to jump into. I read the 2 previous Combat K novels and sit this one right in the middle. To me, none have lived up to the awesome read that War Machine was. As the other reviewer said however, be prepared for some really bizarre stuff in this novel, Remic has quite the deviant mind. Also, these books would make a killer video game series (get on it Remic!).
