Excellent resource for Civil War reenactors and historians.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Hardee's Infantry Tactics CD-Rom (CD-ROM)
Hardee's Tactics is an excellent resource for reenactors and military historians interested in the tactical mindset of both North and South during the War Between the States. The book is a synthesis of the Napoleonic/West Point tradition of formal battlefield tactics of the period. The book became widely used by both Union and Confederate forces as the handbook for teaching the Infantryman's battlefield maneuvers. It was the result of William Joseph Hardee's tactical scholarship in France, and his career as a United States Army officer before Lincoln provoked the initiation of hostilities at Ft Sumter. Shortly after the onslaught of war, Hardee resigned his U.S. Army commision and began his service in defense of his native state, Georgia. He would rise to the rank rank of General, and serve in defense of the South at Shiloh, Murfreesborough, Missionary Ridge, Atlanta, Jonesborough, Savannah, and Bentonville.

By Edward Manson (Maryland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hardee's Infantry Tactics CD-Rom (CD-ROM)
This cd-rom is a great resource for Civil War researchers. The search software makes it easy to find data, and then you can copy the data or print it. It's a time saver for research. Because of the search software, I have found data that I did not come across in the book. I highly recommend this cd-rom.
