"Did you come in here to buy some . . . underwear? I have some beautiful stock," she pointed out, enjoying how uncomfortable the subject made him. "Is there a . . . wife?" She held her breath, strangely relieved when he shook his head. "Girlfriend?"
"I didn't come to buy underwear, for me or anyone else," he assured her, taking a step into the only available space in the entire room.
"If you don't want underwear, how about a bathrobe?"
"No, thank you." He took another step.
"Nightwear?" she squeaked.
"I don't wear any."

His gaze slid slowly over her, from her low neckline, to her short hemline, and everywhere in between.
Suddenly the stuffy scientist didn't seem so stuffy, but the room sure did. "What did you come for?" she asked, her voice low and trembly.

When an immovable object meets an irresistable force at the hand of Jill Shalvis, the fun begins! I always enjoy Shalvis's style of writing and she is in a happy place with this tale. The heroine is the irresistable force that eventually moves the staid and seemingly immovable hero. Friction can cause sparks and sparks certainly fly right through the story. For some laughter and gentle fun, mixed with the serious business of falling in love despite everything, I recommend The Harder They Fall as yet another good yarn from the pen of this author.
