my 2 year old has an average size head, and it didn't fit from the first day. unless your toddler has a very small head, i wouldn't buy this, buy the child helmet.

The description of this item says it comes with "Bonus knee and elbow pads." This is misleading as it comes with only ONE set of pads and the actual packaging says "knee OR elbow pads." I purchased this helmet because it advertised the pads, I would have chosen something else had I known it came with only one set.

The helmet fits my 3 year old fairly snugly and seems secure. She likes the bright colors, too.

12/16: Editing to add that we had been using the pads on her elbows and they worked fine. We tried them on her knees after I posted this review, and they did not fit. The straps were too short and they cut into her legs.

This helmat has such bright and beautiful colors! Our 2 year old loved it and no longer fights us to wear her helmet- even in the summer heat! And the fit was just right too- I liked that it covers her head more than just the very top.

As for the "protective pads"... as far as I'm concerned- they're worthless. She had fun playing with them in the begining, but they don't stay on and don't seem all that sturdy.

Aghhh!! The first day I loved this helmet. I love the color and my daughter thought it was so great, she wanted to wear it all the time. and then on the second day, she wore it outside to ride in her powerwheel and a wasp and two bees landed on her head and tried to go into the holes on top. I freaked out, unbuckled it as fast as I could and threw it off. I'm pretty sure it was the bright beautiful color that attracted them.I'm returning it to walmart tomorrow.
