We purchased the Hardy Boys starter set after my 5th grade son had read the first book. He had to read a mystery book for school. He liked it so much we purchased the others.
He just finished the second book in record reading time. Even though these books were written quite some time ago, they still can appeal to kids today.

My 2nd grader recently got these from his grandparents. He is about half way through the first book and is enjoying the story of a stolen jalopy. It is a little difficult (but not too difficult) for my 7 year old who is an excellent reader, but he seems to be enjoying the challenge. He is learning new vocabulary, which is always good!

My 12 year old son loved this series..He was given these as a gift and has read one after the other..The decades old technology, motorcycles, speed boats kept him very interested..The Hardys are a classic that never fails to satisfy..

Books are wonderful. Grandkids are truely enjoying being introduced to these classics. Fast service during the holidays, too.

I can recall reading my first Hardy Boys mystery at 8-years of age... 58-years ago... that first book was "The Sinister Sign Post." I would read the Hardy adventures late at night, under the covers, with a flashlight. My dad would get very annoyed as any time he needed the flashlight the batteries were dead.

My parents, in buying these books for me, gave me the greatest gift I have ever received. Because of the Hardy Boys I became an inveterate reader. And because of that, it made my way through elementary school, high school and college much, much easier.

One thing, not so positive, should be pointed out however. The stories published in the 50's and early 60's were rich in language... some of the words were not easy for a snot-nosed kid. So much the better, my vocabulary was greatly improved. But the current books have been dumbed-down something terrific. If you doubt that go to a used book store and find a Hardy Boys mystery that was published in say... 1955 and compare that to a same titled current book. The difference is amazing... alas.

We ordered this set for our 8 year old grandson's birthday. We can hardly wait for him to open it on April 6th. Both of us read these books as children and loved them. They arrived quickly and were pre-wrapped in plastic, we have to wait to see the inside also.

This was a very nice series when I was a kid...spent a lot of time with this set, and owned a LOT of them. Mystery set featuring the Hardy boys who solve mysteries. Your kid will love 'em.

This is a wonderful classic series that thrills my kids as much as it excited me when I was their age. It actually motivated my "hates to read" 12 yr old son into reading the entire set in less than 2 weeks. I was impressed w/ the quality and time it took to arrive, but the best feature of all was the price.

My 13-yr-old grandson really liked (The Hardy Boys Starter Set). My 9-yr-old grandson also enjoyed the books. I would highly recommend them to almost any age child.
