reS-Gr 3-This fantastical version of the traditional Christmas carol features aardvark angels who assist mail carriers to deliver the season's heavy mounds of letters and packages. "Hark! The aardvark angels fly/Mail planes through the foggy sky./Hark! The aardvark angels glide/Through the swamps where gators hide." Almost full-page and page-and-a-half artwork, done in watercolor crayon and acrylics, is busy and full of cheery, winged animals in blue uniforms. A postmark stamp relating to each locale adorns the slice of white space framing each illustration. Somewhat reminiscent of David McPhail's Pigs Aplenty, Pigs Galore! (Dutton, 1993) in both appearance and rhythm, this title is perfect fun for Christmas reading and holiday storytime sharing. The original score featuring the new lyrics is appended.-L. F.

Teri Sloat's Hark The Aardvark Angels Sing tells of aardvark angels who manage to help the mail carriers delivery all the good cheer during the holiday season. Set to the Christmas song, this certainly is something different.
