This is a very nice book. Great pictures, good text, even a bit of wit. I especially liked the coverage of the 61E series OHV, which are to my eyes the nicest Harleys ever built. This book was from when Motorbooks were the best. The Enthusiast series was light reading with big beautiful pictures for a reasonable price. If you like the old bikes, this is a great place to start.

JD & Knuckle,

This review is from: Harley-Davidson 1903-1941 (Enthusiast Color Series) (Paperback)
This 1903-1941 color-history narrative, is the equal collabration of H.Wagners' writing and Mark Mitchells' photography. (My favorites being the close-up pewter-hued detail of the JD,Twin Cam, and 8-valve exo-skeleton motors.) Have you ever seen a JD at idle? It chuffs - with the exposed external (exhaust) push rods moving up and down - truly a mechanical horse.
