This review is from: Harley Davidson, Illustrated Motorcycle Legends (Hardcover)
This 'book' is very short on the written word, which is just as well, as it's equally short on accuracy. The illustrations of early models are interesting and of reasonable quality (possibly taken from Museum archives), but for some of the later models (mine stopped at Evos) the pictures appear to have been scanned from old Motor Company brochures, and you can even see the fold down the middle of the page. One photograph is printed back to front, which is unforgivable even if the bike is on its own (FLH backwards is an obvious clue), but in this case, there is machinery in the background where the lettering also is back to front. That's what you get for printing it in China I suppose. Other glaring errors include entitling a photo as an Evo engine, when it's clearly a late Shovel, and calling all the Softail family Superglides...There are some awful Harley coffee table books out there, but this is one of the worst I've ever seen. One final comment: I picked mine up for next to nothing at a club auction, and it's several years old. It's possible that some or all of the errors may have been addressed in later editions, but don't count on it.
