I love Richard and Rose, I love how they care for each other. I feel that Rose does stand up for Richard and herself. Since Yorkshire they have been devoted to each other. I love Gervase, as well and wish he could find his love. I can't wait until Eyton comes out. I do wish we could do without Eustice Terry for once, hate her.

I have loved every book I have read by Lynne Connolly.

Richard's past does not remain in the past. How they deal with the obstacles makes no sense and is frustrating to the reader. Confronted with the women who would steal her husband, plot their murder, and plant malicious gossip, Rose forgives all, leaving them to do it again. After 2 books where is her spine? Richard once again plans ruses by flirting with these women. If a man truly loves a woman he wouldn't subject her to such public humiliation. Their old nemeses, the Drurys resort to debauchery involving group sex and incest. I felt dirty after reading this book. SPOILER ALERT. And now Rose's impending joy is marred by the fact she's not the first to bear Richard children. And now it appears the next book will be devoted to searching for another illegitimate child. No thanks.
