Ok, I think it is about time for the AVR-2700 to get its first review too.
First of all let me say that this year I have been experimenting quite a lot by acquiring (and returning some) several AVRs. I am coming from a Denon AVR-3312, of which I had no complaints. No bugs, no defects, 3-y warranty, sold to a friend who is also thrilled about 5 months ago. I replaced with an Onkyo 818: bought it with a return policy, I ended up preferring it to the Denon and therefore kept it. When it worked, it did admirably and I am now a believer of Audyssey XT32 making a real difference which is not just a result of expectations in my brain (you do know how self-suggestion is a constant factor in our choices... do you?). Then the infamous reputation of Onkyo defective units stroke again: HDMI board broken twice while updating the firmware, even though following step by step the instructions found on Onkyo web site. It has been in the repair center for 2 months and still is not back. Do I miss it? Somehow. However during these 2 months I have tested also a Pioneer unit, the SC-1227K (Canadian version of the SC-1222K, which as many of you know is a rebadged Pioneer Elite SC-61 without the Elite brand and other really minor variations) and lately this AVR-2700 which I had owned now for 2 weeks.
Regarding the Pioneer, I can only say that is likely your best bet if you are a "tweak-maniac". While MCACC auto calibration delivered in my room very unsatisfactory results, it can be tweaked entirely toward much better results; you cannot do this with Audyssey-equipped receiver (such as the Denon and the Onkyo) and neither with the Harman. However the end result was never as satisfactory as the default setting of Audyssey XT32 on the Onkyo, so the Pioneer was returned.

6/24/2013 Harman Kardon AVR 2700 Review:

I run a 5.1 living room based setup with 4 Klipsch WB-14s, 1 Klipsch WC-24 and a Power Sound Audio XV15 sub. All of my gear is HDMI, as is all of my connections because I have no legacy gear. I had an Onkyo 709 that did what the Onkyo 709 does best......It burned up its HDMI board, and I have been trying to find its replacement for over 60 days. In the last two months I have had many receivers installed and they all found their way out of my setup for various reasons. The receiver that came the closest to staying was the Denon X1000, but I started having issues with video and audio dropping out or freezing on one of the HDMI inputs, so back to amazon it went. I did not buy the AVR 2700 from Amazon as I found it $200 cheaper from an online H/K authorized dealer. That being said, I would still be this happy even had I paid full price for it, because it's worth every penny.

The unit looks amazing, as it just exudes class. To me, it's the best looking receiver available today, with the Marantz units a close second. There is an LED status light on the front left face that changes color when in different states of power. When the unit is on it is a white light, and when it's off or in sleep mode it is an orange/red color. That light can not be defeated and is always on. The volume knob also has a bright white light around it, but it can be turned off by going into the settings and selecting 50% for the panel brightness. When you do something to the receiver like adjust the volume, the volume circle light turns on to let you know something happened and it goes off again in about 3 seconds. The unit is also quite a bit lighter than other receivers because of the digital power supply not needing a heavy transformer.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Getting this Harman Kardon to replace an already fairly new Yamaha RX-V573 7.1-Channel Network AV Receiver, several things became apparent.

First, the price. This guy is somewhere around twice the price of the Yamaha. The Yamaha did everything that could be reasonably asked of a receiver - in fact, feature-for-feature, it doesn't look like this Harman Kardon is going to do anything better (or worse) than the Yamaha, especially given the hire price and thus, higher expectations.

Well...if its not worth the extra funds, it definitely gets very close to it. Harman Kardon's design blows away the Yamaha, easily. Starting with what most people will use the most - the remote - it's very easy to use (even if it little large), and its laid out in a way that makes sense, not just "oh, we need another button....oh hey, there's a spot!" Also, for the universal remote piece, you simply plug your equipment into the back (HDMI ports), and they're pre-mapped to things like Game/Cable/DVR/TV/DVD, etc., and based on the port that the device is plugged into, some other brand equipment just starts working with the universal remote. Very impressive. (And its very easy to program other devices.) Now, when I press the DVD button on the remote, it automatically switches to control my DVD player. One negative here, though: All the codes are online at their website - my manual did not include a listing of them.

For sound quality - we have a consensus that this beats the Yamaha. At lower power levels, the speakers sound better...
