Who knew my speakers could sound this good?,

This review is from: Harman Kardon AVR 335 7.1 Channel Surround Sound Audio/Video Receiver (Electronics)
After our old receiver died, we looked around for a replacement in the sub-$500 range. I admit that when buying the old receiver, I was suckered by the more-watts-is-better argument, but after reading about the power management Harman Kardon uses to give cleaner sound, we decided to give the 335 a try. Even before we used the included microphone to calibrate the reciever for our room and speaker layout, the sound was incredibly clear--we heard voices more distinctly, and the surround sound sounded better than it ever had before. The HK has plenty of optical sound inputs for all our devices, and the remote works with all our components from various manufacturers. It even looks cool with the glowing blue LED's (which can be turned off while watching a movie). As an added bonus, HK is an American company. I highly recommend this as a great sound solution to anyone who likes to hear their music and not the hissing and pops of over-driven speakers.

This reciever has everything you could ask for in a modern 8 channel reciever and more. It accpts every input/output connector type and format under the sun. This makes it a worthwhile investment and somewhat future proof. It has many digital processing modes for every type of room, speaker configuration and application you could think of. The system can even calibrate the delay in signal to each speaker to ensure that the speakers are precisly in phase and sync'd to each other at the point of contact with your ears.

I love this setup. I have this in conjuction with the Harmon Kardon DVD Player and the Infinity 7.1 Surround Sound Speakers. This system rocks my neighborhood. I live in a 2 story house and it rattles the whole house. Star Wars just isn't the same after hearing it on this system....BUY IT!

I bought this receiver used on Ebay for 110.00 5 months ago and it blows away anything else I owned. I previously had a Yamaha HTR5950 and before that a Yamaha rxv1105. While both those receivers sounded good they don't compare to the HK. The sound is crystal clear at loud volumes with an open soundstage that I didn't get with the Yamahas. Looking at the newer models of HK receivers it seems they have issues with HDMI inputs. There are no issues with this older receiver's component video. The main reason to buy something like this is the sound anyway and the AVR 335 sounds great all around. If you can find one used for this price it is well worth it.
