Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The HK 3370 is a full-featured stereo receiver with five inputs and an FM stereo/FM mono/AM tuner with capabilities that provide for the utmost flexibility. Even a high-quality phono input is included so that you can continue to enjoy your existing record collection as well as the latest CD recordings.

At the center of the HK 3370's performance is a Harman Kardon-designed high-current, ultrawide-bandwidth amplifier with an output of 70 watts per channel. Separate Speaker 1 and Speaker 2 outputs give you the option of high-quality sound in two different locations. For added depth and flexibility, Harman Kardon has added pre-out/main-in jacks for use with external amplifiers, equalizers, and signal processors. A subwoofer output and tape monitor loop are also included.

The receiver itself features a digital AM/FM tuner with 30 station presets and direct-access tuning. Infrared remote extension jacks let the receiver be controlled by remote even if the IR sensor is blocked due to cabinet doors or other obstructions, through the use of an external sensor. These convenient features, combined with an included full-function, programmable remote control, make the HK 3370 one of the most user-friendly receivers Harman Kardon has ever built.

Harman Kardon offers a two-year warranty on parts and labor for the HK 3370.

From Digital Living Today

Harmon Kardon has been making state-of-the-art audio equipment for almost 50 years. Their receivers are known for being first-rate without including unnecessary bells and whistles. If you're in the market for a new receiver, think seriously about sacrificing a few buttons for truly excellent sound and design. The 3370 is an ideal 2-channel machine, delivering an impressively clean 70 watts to each of its channels, while keeping Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) down to .07% (anything under .5% is undetectable to the ear). The tuner is quite sensitive as well, and employs FM Adjacent channel selectivity to help keep reception free from bleeds or drifts. High-Current engineering allows the 3370 to handle pretty much any power need it may run into, and a system remote allows you to control it all from the comfort of your listening chair. If you want all the features of the latest technology, this receiver is not for you. But if you want a reasonably priced, audiophile receiver, with the important features executed at a very high level of accomplishment and smart design, consider making the HK 3370 the hub of your next system.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic quality at a great price, November 15, 2001

This is a great receiver, with impressive specs, minus the bells and whistles. I love the simple, straight forward design-it looks great and will bring out the best in your speakers.

Harman Kardan knows what they are doing-wattage is fine, but the amps help the power of the sound. I look for 20-20,000khz response as far as sound goes-get that resonant bass response, clear highs, nice midtones. You have to look and read the specs to find that-with all the overpriced brands out there (most don't match these specs), look no further-it's right here.

I read about a few of the Harman Kardans at Amazon and ordered this one, because it has everything I need. It is a replacement for my 24 year old amp that could probably be repaired, but I decided to update (it upgraded, really) my system.

This has your basic balance, treble and bass controls, and stereo or mono for FM-so if you want to equalize, you have to add that separate. My first amplifier had buttons and toggle switches to help that out-but this receiver sounds great without that.

You can add a subwoofer and/or a second pair of speakers, there's the headphone jack, and, for all of us from the vinyl era, TURNTABLE JACKS, besides a CD player and/ or tape deck. I have a pair of Bose 301s that sound really nice-a great match. At 95 watts per channel stereo, you can fill your house with some great music-a powerful receiver. If you are looking for a really nice unit for your Bose, JBLs, Klipsh, whatever-this is a great choice. The remote is fine-easy to use capable of 30 radio station presets.

Incidently, a friend gave me a pair of speakers-some small Fishers-bookshelf size-never heard them before-rated 40 watts, 80 watts max., 60-20,000khz. I hooked these up to the HK to see that they worked and was really impressed at the sound from these speakers. Buy with confidence!

5.0 out of 5 stars Harman/Kardon is topnotch and their receivers prove it..., December 8, 2001

I owned a Harman/Kardon home stereo system for 5+ years and it's given me great performance. I believe their receivers are some of the best on the market (must be the 'high current amplifier design'). When I had to replace the CD changer due to a burnt-out & irreplaceable remote sensor, I decided to upgrade the whole system. I almost went with one of the AVR series of Harman/Kardon receivers, digitally designed for home theater systems. But if you're like me, you buy a home stereo to listen to great MUSIC, not heartstopping explosion SOUND EFFECTS on the soundtrack to some hokey Hollywood action/adventure flick in surround-sound (Whoop dee doo...) I decided instead to go for one of their oldfashioned stereo two-channel receivers (when I grow three more ears I'll think about getting a five-speaker surround-sound setup). This is the lesser (in terms of wattage output) of their two stereo models, ideal for my one-room studio apartment. Wow! The sound is even brighter & clearer (more presence) than on my older HK receiver (using FM stereo broadcasts as a basis for comparison). And lots of attractive added features, like PHONO inputs, SUBWOOFER line outputs, jacks for TWO tape decks plus auxiliary, versatile FM-programming preset functions, sleep timer, and a beautiful illuminated front-panel display and control layout. This unit is a beauty. One thing worth mentioning: my older HK receiver was rated at 40 watts per channel and was WAY louder than this unit which is paradoxically rated at 70 watts per channel. I live in a tiny apartment so I don't need earsplitting volume, but don't be fooled by numbers...

5.0 out of 5 stars not bad, June 10, 2003
This review is from: Harman Kardon 3370 Audio/Video Receiver (Electronics)
I've got my hk3370 for 2years, what i can say about it it's just great. some of reviewers have objections on sound quality, it is a metter of taste, but i find it nearly perfect. I have following system: HK 3370 reciver; harman/kardon DVD 25; Infinity alpha 50 (i use be-wiring); powered subwoofer 12" JBL.(room 40 m2)
some of my friends have a good audio systems like BOSE lifestyle 12; B & O;Nakamichi. i can say proudly that my system's sound quality is not the last.(as to the bass, it beats them)
may be the reason is that all my equipment are from one HARMAN family and are very very very well matched. in short, I am setisfide with my HK .

happy listening
