In fact, the Harman Kardon SoundSticks system is now in the permanent collection of New York City's Museum of Modern Art.

Stunning Sound Quality
The Harman Kardon Go + Play Micro is the true audiophile's portable loudspeaker dock for his or her iPod or iPhone. Its stunning sound quality starts with Harman Kardon's proprietary Atlas and Odyssey transducers. The dual Odyssey tweeters are designed to be very lightweight but extremely rigid. This means high frequencies are detailed and clear while delivering sound over a wide listening area. The Harman Kardon Go + Play Micro's Atlas woofer is also rigid but designed to move a lot of air. The result is deep, extended bass response with minimal distortion. To power these advanced drivers, the Harman Kardon Go + Play Micro actually uses two amplifiers to drive the woofer (30 watts X 1) and tweeters (15 watts X 2) independently for exceptional richness and clarity of sound. Finally, to ensure clear, low-distortion sound at high output levels, the Harman Kardon Go + Play Micro uses advanced digital signal processing (DSP) along with computer-optimized equalization.

Easy-to-Use Music and Navigation Controls
The Go+Play Micro's minimalist design means it is very easy to use. Its elegant, stainless-steel touch-volume controls mean that a single touch increases or decreases the volume. And for those times when you want complete control from across the room or across the beach, the Harman Kardon Go + Play Micro comes with a wireless IR remote control. The elegantly laid-out control allows you to direct basic system operation along with most iPod and iPhone operation from up to 4.5 meters (15 feet) away.

The Go+Play Micro is perfect for around the house, on the beach, or anywhere you want to enjoy some music from your portable device.

I owned the older, full sized Harman Kardon speaker system for iPod and I must say it had superior sound than this Go+Play Micro. The sound on this product is fine it's just that the old model really pumped with the help of some woofers and larger speakers in general. Why they (Harman Kardon) changed a good thing is beyond me. With that said, I don't have any reason to bash the Go+Play except to say it's not as good as the old model.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
First off, I couldn't believe the size of the package when it arrived. It's pretty big for a portable system. There is nothing 'micro' about it despite the fact that it's advertised as a portable micro speaker system. Looking beyond the size, it's a beautiful, well designed system. The stainless steel handle adds an aesthetic and fashionable touch to the unit. The volume control and power button are cleverly integrated into a circular disc on the left side of the unit.

I am pleasantly surprised by the sound quality of this "boombox". It's pumps out a lot of bass and yet is very clear on the treble side. The sound is simply amazing given it size. Unlike most boombox, the sound doesn't deteriorate as the volume is increased. There is no bass/treble or equalizer control for fine tuning though.

The iPod dock on the top of the unit is inclined towards to the front, so you can see the iPod screen easily without having to walk up to the unit. The dock is vertically adjustable to suit the thickness of the particular model of iPod/iPhone that you have. However, the width of the dock is fixed and is tight fit. You may likely have to remove any custom casing on the iPod before it would fit in the dock.

The unit provides various connection inputs at the back. An auxiliary input allows you to connect any MP3 players, PC speaker output and even gaming consoles (a 3.5mm audio adapter may be required). A composite video output allows you to connect the unit to a TV and play back videos and photos on your connected iPod/iPhone (sorry, no HD quality here). The unit can also be connected to a computer for interfacing with iTunes directly, without the need to undock your iPod and sync it manually (USB cable is not included).

I purchased the original Harman Kardon Go+Play a few years back and have been very happy with the sound quality. I tested numerous systems at the time and it beat them all out. Recently one of the speakers blew out though and I needed to find a replacement. Also the original does not charge the iphone, and since I recently got an iPhone, I figured it was time to upgrade. So after reading a number of positive reviews about the Go+Play Micro, I purchased the system. Well I played it for about 40 seconds, turned it off and put it back in the box to ship back to Amazon. It is nowhere near the sound quality of the original. The bass was lacking and the mids and highs were muffled. I'm fairly picky about my sound, so if you're just looking for a casual portable system with a slick look, this might be for you. But if sound quality and clarity are important, you may want to look elsewhere. I just bit the bullet and ordered the Go+Play II - more than double the price of the Micro, but I'm hoping it's more on par with the sound of the original Go+Play.

As most prudent buyers, I did my research prior to purchasing this Micro Speaker System. I looked at Sony, Altec Lansing, Kicker, and Bose. My goal was to purchase a speaker system that had good sound, was portable and was made with quality.

After what seemed to be an eternity I narrowed my choice between this unit and the Bose portable soundock. Initially, I was sold on the Bose Soundock. I have purchased Bose products in the past and have been a very happy customer. But at a regular price of $399 and a sale price of $349, I figured I would to try the Harman Kardon Go + Play Micro. At a regular price of $299. and a sale price $162 on Amazon I could not pass up this deal of 60% less than the Bose. I also figured if I didn't like it, I could send it back and purchase the Bose Soundock.

I ordered the unit Monday, December 19 through regular shipping. Amazingly, it arrived on Thursday, December 22!

The unit at first glance will either amaze you as being very contemporary and stylish or will make you wonder what space-age device has landed from outer space. Upon a quick review of the instructions, I eagerly plugged the unit in and proceeded to attach my 5th generation Ipod nano . As I pressed the play button on the remote control I was pleased with the sound. I slowly increased the volume and found the lows, mid's and high's to maintain their fullness and clarity. I hesitatantly continued to raise the volume (expecting to hear distortion) and found the sound to be extremely acceptable. With a smile on my face, I listened to several other songs (rock, pop, country, blues) and quickly found this unit was not going back to Amazon and there would be no portable Bose Soundock in my house!!

If you've read reviews about the Micro, you've probably heard writers complain about the inferiority of the not-so-micro "Micro" compared to the full size Go+Play. Ignore this. If you don't have to listen to your music at insane volume levels, the Micro packs more than enough punch to satisfy. Pushing 15 watts to each pair of Odyssey drivers and another 30 watts for the single, 5-inch downfiring woofer, the Go+Play Micro is loud enough to fill a backyard BBQ, start a small apartment party, etc. It won't host a full scale dance floor on its own, but it will make everybody at the party want to go clubbing. In addition to the top-notch design (this one's a looker), Harman Kardon's digital signal processing makes music sound equally beautiful. There's nothing special about the hardware used - it's competitive at $300: 4 tweeters and a woofer - but, the processing really smoothes out the response and eliminates distortion. Audiophiles, don't get scared off yet. The compression software is minimally invasive at moderately loud volumes, only becoming noticable at near maximum volume. Highs are sculpted and bright, without being shrill; although HK eccentuates things here by using 4 tweeters in lieu of some midrange drivers and also tuning the DSP to brighten the top end. The midrange, despite being somewhat recessed on some songs, is clear and very present in all mixes. On the low end, bass has some thump, audible and palpable, while sub bass is present as well, even if only in small amounts (it is only a 5 inch driver after all). One warning: most iPods will require the case to be removed for you to use the dock. If this bothers you, use the 3.5mm jack on the back or stay away and go with something more flexible in this department.
