4.0 out of 5 stars I Can Finally Hear My Own Music at the Gym! :-), February 13, 2009
This review is from: Harman Kardon 710 Noise Isolating Earphones (White) (Electronics)
The main place where I listen to a music player is at the gym when I am doing my workout. In most good gyms, there are either no overhead speakers or the overhead speakers have to be tuned into or they are kept at a level that does not compete with the personal stereos of the customers. The problem with my gym is that some of the people that work there will obnoxiously try to impose their taste in music on the rest of us by cranking up the overhead speakers as loud as they can when management isn't around. Complaining didn't help much and so I was on a quest to find some headphones that would cancel out the overhead speakers so I could hear MY music. The earphones that come with most mp3 players are just not adequate for doing this, including the ones that came with my ipod which is my latest mp3 player. Most of the headphones I tried would allow too much noise to leak in around them or would just not go loud enough to drown out the gym noise. I did some research on the internet and tried several various over the ear and in the ear headphones but the Harmon Kardon 710's were by far the best I tried. I find that wetting the rubber ear piece lubricates it nicely and it wedges into my ear canal very nicely and comfortably and blocks out about 80% of the ambient noise around me. If you have them in your ear, without the mp3 player turned on, they will reduce ambient noise but not eliminate it BUT they are one of the few headphones that have the volume power to completely down out the ambient noise when the volume is turned up about half way. I purchased my first pair at Fry's but about a year later the rubber insulation around wire near the jack started wearing through and exposing the wire itself. They did continue to play but I knew I would have to replace them. I loved their performance enough to go back to try to get another pair but couldn't find another pair at Fry's and turned to Amazon and was thrilled to find I could get another pair there. These are the best I have found and now I am on my second pair!

Save your money, these sound like crap, I have $30 Creative & Sennhiser buds that blow them away.
I have Sure E3 & a pair of Ultimate Ears dual driver buds so I know what Pro sounding phones can do.

The only real difference between the $200+ Sure & ER phones & the $30 ones is there is no noise fatigue no matter how
loud or long you listen to them but they are "over the ear cable types", not really comfortable for lazing around on the couch or bed they are made for live sound on stage to use while you are standing.
