Great sounding with a few quirks, September 25, 2011
This review is from: Harman Kardon 720 Noise Isolating Earphones (White) (Electronics)
Picked up a pair of the 720s at a great price. At first I was VERY disappointed- I was expecting HK to have a great sound but at first these were tinny and thin sounding. Jumped on the reviews here and noticed the reviews for the 730- one reviewer suggested cutting off the first "tip" of the included earbuds. I did- and it allowed the buds to seal in my ears. The difference is huge. These are not "thumping bass" buds but they are extremely clear, transparent and plesant to use. I have EQs set when I want a little more bass with this particular set. Great sound when properly fitted, but they do have to seal in your ear canal for them to work properly.
Points off for not working rignt out of the box... I suppose there is someone out there with ears so small that they would require the use of the first tip to get a seal but they should come with an extra set of tips for that fit, and have a normal "average" set for regular joes.
One other picky thing I don't like is the cord material. It seems durable, but it has terrible memory- I have had these buds hanging straight for a week and the kinks from packaging are still in the cord. I like a straight, flowing cord that lays flat and doesn't catch on everything. Maybe I'll put a little weight on them and hang them in the sun next.
The little pointy "tool" and the microscopic little green filters this set came with were new to me. Apparently I will have to someday change the filter in my earbuds! Interesting...
