5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Memories
Like a prior reviewer of this album, I too am buying this cd because my father had given it to me when I was young (yes on good ol' vinyl). I too have many wonderful memories of this album. Especially the Doobies' rendition of the Wynken, Blynken and Nod, a poem my parents used to read to me when I was just a baby. Combine that with James and Livingston Taylor, Carley...

1.0 out of 5 stars Yucky
What an enormous disappointment. With the artists listed you would think it would be impossible for this to be a bad album. It is. The sound quality is terrible- it sounds like someone put a microphone next to a tape player, then transferred it to digital. It's annoying. To quote my 4 year old son: "Mommy, can we listen to something else?" I agreed.

Especially the Doobies' rendition of the Wynken, Blynken and Nod, a poem my parents used to read to me when I was just a baby. Combine that with James and Livingston Taylor, Carley Simon, Al Jarreau and the wonderful line up on this album. Throw in the enduring cast of Sesame Street and you have an album that can't be beat for both children and adults alike.

I now have a newborn baby and I plan to give her this album as my father gave it to me 20 years ago. I am certain that she will get as much enjoyment out of it as I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars All of a sudden life is good..., September 9, 2000
This review is from: In Harmony: A Sesame Street Record (Audio CD)
I grew up on two things-- Sesame Street and my dad's music collection. He bought this album (yeah, I have it on vinyl!) when I was a year old because (he says) of James Taylor. All I know is I love it. There are some things that trigger really strong feelings in me, and this is the big one. Put it on, and I'm three or four again and life is good. Car payment? Job? Heck no! I want a horse, and I'm dancing around singing 'Blueberry Pie.' Folky, a little funky, all-around kid-friendly. I'd rather kids listened to this than anything put out by Lou Perlman. All those boys and girls running around in matching outfits and tube tops wish they had this staying power. A truly lovely album, and one that sounds as good today as it did twenty years ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars from a 27 year old college student, December 4, 1999

I love both this and In Harmony 2. I listened to both of them when I was little on the old 33 1/2 records that I still own. Last Christmas break, I was bored one day, so I decided to see if the old record player still worked. It sure did! One of the first albums I pulled out was In Harmony. When I put it on, my 57 year-old mother called me from her room- TURN THAT UP! she hollered, and so I did! I found In Harmony on a CD, but the only way to get it was to special order it. I loved it and got addicted to it. Before I went home for the semester break, I ordered a second copy for my mother, and she was so surprised. She loves it as much as I do. As I said earlier, I also have In Harmony 2 on a record, and I love it just as much. I can not find it anywhere- not in any stores, they can't find it in any catalogues, and I can't find it on the internet anywhere. When my mother told me that she was going to renovate my room and put a new stereo in there, I immediately realized that I would no longer be able to listen to In Harmony 2, excluding the tape I made of it, since I was sure the new stereo would not have a record player. That depressed me.

I would really like to find the In Harmony 2 album on a CD, or at least on a tape. If that exists anywhere, I would like to know- I'd probably buy 2 copies. One for myself and one for my four-year-old niece and my nephew who is less than a year old. The songs are all very cute and fun to listen to. Perfect for if you're depressed, since it will make you laugh! One of the songs on the In Harmony album titled Share, is sung by Ernie and Cookie Monster. The words to the song are like a little lesson as to why we should share with each other- good hint for us adults as it is for little children. So I think anyone would love this album. My favorite off of the In Harmony 2 album is a song titled I've Got a Friend(That Nobody Knows) by Billy Joel. He is one of my favorite musicians of all time. Since I can't find the In Harmony 2 on a CD, the only way I can ever hear this song is on the tape I recorded it on, or asking my mom to get the old stereo out of our barn, which isn't very likely to happen. So again, In Harmonyis great for anybody. As I said before, if anyone knows where to find In Harmony 2 on a CD or tape, please contact me at s232133@nwmissouri.edu

5.0 out of 5 stars Volume 2???, September 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: In Harmony: A Sesame Street Record (Audio CD)
I don't like to use this space for these kinds of messages, but I'm desparate.

This CD is maybe the best children's record I've ever heard (and it ain't just a children's record), matched only by In Harmony 2. Does anyone know where to find volume 2 on CD? Does it exist? My vinyl still works but I fear for its safety.

Parents, buy this record for your kids and you'll end up saying 'damned if I don't play it more often for myself than for them.'

5.0 out of 5 stars It's old school Sesame Street, July 21, 2001

This CD reminds me of the Sesame Street from the early 80's when they always had cool people on. Now, at the age of 24 and with a four month old son, it takes me back. I love to sing and dance around with my baby to this CD. Even my husband who hates to sing will chime in on "Blueberry Pie".

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Ever, November 20, 2002
By A Customer

My sister and I used to sing and play along with this album in 1980 - it is still a favorite inside joke for us. I can't wait to get this CD for her this Christmas and my own son. This is a very unique, diverse CD - with lots of fun songs and beautiful music. It is sure to be a treasure for all families - no matter what the age. Buy it now!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, March 31, 2007
This review is from: In Harmony: A Sesame Street Record (Audio CD)
When I was younger I had the casette recording of this album. I listened to it so many times I actually wore the tape so thin you could hear both sides (A and B) at the same time. I've been looking at second hand shops for this album ever since, I never imagined it was still being made. Every single song on this album is bound to become a family favorite. Just because songs are safe for kids to listen to doesn't mean they have no use for adults. There are some beautiful love songs on this album. Stereotypical children's songs get old fast. How many times can you listen to twinkle twinkle little star and the alphabet song before going crazy because they're the same tune? These songs will give a much needed burst of color into your child's music collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars i had this album when i was a little kid!, August 13, 2006
This review is from: In Harmony: A Sesame Street Record (Audio CD)
this is a great album! i want a horse was one of my favorite songs when i was little. actually looking at the release date, i was born 2 months after this album came out... i have great memories of dancing around to all of these songs and singing the final, "in harmony" song, probably out of harmony but that's okay. the pajamas song as well as the doobie brothers, wynken, blynken and nod make me feel like a kid again. you simply must buy this album! it's great!
