About the Author
Howard and Elisabeth are both members of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) for whom they have conducted numerous master classes. They are the authors of the Born To Sing series of instructional books and tapes as well as Sing Like A Pro and Learn To Sing Overnight DVDs, now distributed world-wide. Their Music Reading / Ear Training course, The ABCs Of Vocal Harmony is well on its way to becoming a popular text for music programs across the country. As a team, Howard and Elisabeth were signed to MCA as singer-songwriters and performed extensively throughout the United States. They have had several singers signed to major labels including RCA, Columbia, Geffen, Capitol and MCA. Howard Austin is a versatile vocal artist whose work includes a variety of starring roles on the musical stage as well as night club performances and recordings. His own vocal training has been with some of the great vocal teachers of all time including, John Motley, Gertrude Arnold and Dr. Peter J. Wilhousky. Howard has been a popular radio and TV talk show guest with his vocal demonstrations and instant 'on the spot' analysis and instruction to callers-in and studio audiences. In addition to his private clients, he has conducted numerous seminars on singing and voice training for NATS and Music Teachers of Los Angeles County Unified School District, Los Angeles Songwriters Showcase and others. His clients have included Tiffany, Holly Fields, Don York of Sha-Na-Na and several Star Search contestants including an International Junior Grand Champion. Don't Buy Unless You Want to Learn Theory,

Like the last reviewer I was very disappointed by this set. Mainly because I thought this set would teach vocal techniques. This set teaches theory based information like intervals, scales, octaves, rhythms, notes,etc. Howard and Austin take you step by step vocally thorough all the theory based info on the 4 discs. Still despite my own disappointed with this set I would recommend it to anyone who desire to know theory or may be short of knowledge on music theory. However I wouldn't reccommend this to anyone who just wants to learn vocal improvement techniques or general vocal techiques.

I regret ordering this book 5 minutes into reading it.It only covers the different scales in music theory such as the major, the minors and so on. The CDs are there only to help you repeat the scales. This is more like a book on elementary theory of music, and even so, it does not have any advice on theory application. Nothing on voice technique, breathing technique and voice training is included. The ear training procedures can be setup by the reader himself with a piano and any basic music theory book. Who doesn't know how to play the scales and sing along? Nobody can come close to being even the bathroom singer using this book.
