4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Album
This is my favorite Three Dog Night album. It contains some of the best recordings of their career. Of course the hits are here "Never Been To Spain", "Family Of Man" and "An Old Fashioned Love Song" but there are others that are amazing also. Just give a listen to their remake of Stevie Wonder's "Never Dreamed You'd Leave In...

This is my favorite Three Dog Night album. It contains some of the best recordings of their career. Of course the hits are here "Never Been To Spain", "Family Of Man" and "An Old Fashioned Love Song" but there are others that are amazing also. Just give a listen to their remake of Stevie Wonder's "Never Dreamed You'd Leave In Summer" and Marvin Gaye's "You". I also think "My Impersonal Life" is one of their best songs. Lots of gems here that didn't wind up on their original Greatest Hits compilation. Most of the songs on this album do appear on their Anthology. Danny Hutton, Cory Wells, Chuck Negron and the band were jamming on this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Still A Good Album, Even After 30 Years!, March 14, 2001

Coming off the heels of both their highly successful "Naturally" and "Golden Bisquits" LP's, comes the equally gold(en) "Harmony". This has got to be one of Three Dog Night's best three albums, along with the aforementioned "Naturally" and "Seven Separate Fools". As you will hear for yourself, "Harmony" doesn't fail to disappoint, for this album contains the hits "Never Been To Spain", as written by the late Hoyt Axton (who was a fishing buddy of TDN member/singer Cory Wells), the environmentally-conscious "The Family Of Man", as co-written by Paul Williams, as well as "An Old Fashioned Love Song", also written by Paul (TDN fans, you must also hear the 45 version of "An Old Fashioned Love Song" from the double-CD "Celebrate" collection, as it's something to absolutely die for!). The non-singles featured on "Harmony" are just as good, if not better. The guys let it all hang out on "Jam", while they ease into a soulful groove on a song previously done by the late Marvin Gaye, titled "You". Another Motown legend, Stevie Wonder, contributes a composition of his own titled "Never Dreamed You'd Leave Me In Summer". Talk about one of the most prolific songwriters of our time, as Joni Mitchell adds "Night In The City" to the mix, as well. Even a childhood friend of TDN's Danny Hutton gets into the songwriting act, as a song written by Terry Furlong, titled "My Impersonal Life", somehow finds its way here. There's a price to be paid for all this wonderful music, as Three Dog Night is found guilty of "overexcessive pleasure", as they commit "Murder In My Heart For The Judge". Ah, but the sentence doesn't last long, for, as an appeal, Chuck Negron recites a magnificent poem to the judge, titled: "Mistakes And Illusions", thus our boys are set free from their so-called "crime". Alas, TDN found "Peace Of Mind" at last! To get yours (Peace Of Mind, that is), just purchase a copy of "Harmony" right now!

4.0 out of 5 stars 'Harmony' abounds here!, June 12, 2000

Three Dog Night was the hottest thing going between 1969 and 1974, and this CD is in the midst of that hotstreak. This CD contains some wonerful ballads (An Old Fashioned Love Song, Never Dreamed You'd Leave Me In Summer) along with some nice rockers (The Family Of Man, Never Been To Spain, Jam, Murder In My Heart For The Judge) and good poetic vibes from Intro/Poem: Mistakes And Illusions:Peace Of Mind-proving the 'Dogs can be both sentimental and versatile here. A must have CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Effort, September 1, 2001

Three Dog Night came on with this great work, and it should be a must for any CD collection. Perhaps "Old Fashioned Love Song" and "Never Been to Spain" are best remembered, as they got the most air play on radio stations. Other cuts such as "You", "Night in the City" and "The Family of Man" should have yet did not seem to get the attention that they deserved. I highly recommend this to any die hard Three Dog Night fans, you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite Three Dog Night album!, August 11, 2007
This review is from: Harmony (Audio CD)
While Three Dog Night was known as more of a "singles" band than an "album" band, I thought they hit a home run with this album. I think it is their strongest orinigal studio album! Not only does it include three of their better hit singles (the classic Never Been To Spain, An Old Fashioned Love Song, and The Family Of Man), but includes some great album cuts that should be receiving air-play on classic rock stations (like Murder In My Heart For The Judge, My Impersonal Life, and Night In The City). A forgotten early 1970's classic!

4.0 out of 5 stars Remastered?, October 31, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Harmony (Audio CD)
While this is an excellent album by Three Dog Night, I can't find any indication that it has been remastered. It is listed on this Amazon site as having come out in the mid-90's when the back is copyrighted 1988 - identical to the non-remastered disc I bought around that time (including the same generic back-cover that MCA put on all their cheap cds in the 80s).

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent., December 30, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Harmony (Audio CD)
My favorite cut from this album has always been "Never Dreamed You'd Leave In Summer," penned by Stevie Wonder. But there's not a dud in the whole bunch. "You" should have been a single. "Family of Man," "An Old-Fashioned Love Song," "Never Been to Spain" - every 3DN fan needs to have this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Did anyone have the 8-track?, April 30, 2009
This review is from: Harmony (Audio CD)
It is hard to pick a favorite Three Dog Night album. I may like "Naturally" just a little more. Actually..."Natually" & "Harmony" could have been released as a double album and been a success in my opinion. I just need to know if anyone had the 8-track of "Harmony"? The one I owned started with "You" and ended with "Jam" so it is hard for me to get used to listening to it with "Never Been To Spain" being the first track. Please tell me I am not the only one that bought an 8 track with the listing beginning with side 2 and ending with side 1.
