One of the few references I've seen that relates the technical limits of the Technicolor process to its use - especially the low sensitivity and resulting problems in producing modeled lighting similar to monochrome technique.

Excellent book to learn about the history of technicolor. Wonderful resources for those who are interested in the history of color in film and how it was produced.

This book is pretty difficult to get through. Its a lot of very dense description of historical movies photographed in Technicolor. The oddest thing is its a book about TECHNICOLOR and there's very few color pictures in the book. There are eight pages of small color pictures in the middle of the book but a majority of the photo examples are tiny and in black & white. The author did a lot of research and quote directors, critics and art directors but much of the book is personal opinion and overly cerebral analysis of movies. I was disappointed.

This book has been a huge help with a school project. We were unable to find in anywhere in a library. Price was right for us to purchase it for further use too.
