5.0 out of 5 stars Barbra Streisand's favorite Composer: Harold Arlen, August 5, 2006
By
This review is from: Harold Arlen and Vernon Duke Revisited, Vol. 2 (Audio CD)
This CD contains a song called "Summer in Brooklyn" which was
written in 1965 for a show called "Barbra Streisand"s Brooklyn"
It sounds like a TV show that was not produced. The music
is by Harold Arlen, the Lyrics by Martin Charnin.
In 1966, Columbia Records released the LP Harold sings Arlen
( with Friend) . The 'friend" refers to Barbra Streisand, and
she sang 2 songs on that Lp " Ding dong the witch is dead"
as a duet with Harold Arlen, and a solo of "House of Flowers"
Martin Charnin has a successful Broadway career, having
written the lyrics to the show " Annie"
I wonder if Barbra Streisand ever recorded "Summer in Brooklyn"
and it has remained as a rare and unreleased recording.
The song "summer in Brooklyn" appears in this record/CD.
More information about the song "summer in Brooklyn" can be found
in the web site www.haroldarlen.com
