This potato masher takes forever to mash the potatoes. The "ricer" type plate clogs constantly, it is a mess to clean, and when you finally give up, you are left with some smooth and some really lumpy potatoes. I threw mine away.

I don't have a clue as to how this wonderful gadget mashes Potatoes - but it is Hell On Wheels when it comes to Avocados!

I bought this for making Guac. Lotsa Guac. Bowls full of fiery hot, limey, creamy Guac. *Mountains* of fresh Guac!

And man, does it Guac-ify avocados...

Five Stars - I'd give it ten if I could.

I saw this masher advertised as "The World's Greatest Potato Masher" and it wasn't hard for me to believe because of the masher/ricer combo. I hate lumpy mashed potatoes, so I hoped this would be the solution for my problem. Here's the deal: the masher is pretty heavy, which I thought showed that it was good quality but in the end just makes it hard work for me to use. The worst part is that even after a lot of mashing, I still ended up with lumpy potatoes. *Sigh* Your best bet is probably to buy either a traditional masher or a ricer.

This is the very best potatoe masher ever! It feels a little different to use at first because of the spring action but once you get going potatoes cream up quickly!

I have used this item to prepare many types of dishes and it works like charm.
I particularly love it to mash cooked dried beans to help thickening the liquid.
Great gift for the cook that likes gadgets

I received this as a Christmas gift a couple of years ago. I have never thought it was great, but serviceable. One thing it had going for it was that it seemed to be well made, but I just took it out of the drawer and the spring part is broken - now mostly useless. I have used this item probably less than 25 times. Will be recycling it and buying a simpler model. It was on my wish list and I seem to remember that the price was quite high at the time. Shame.
