Long Live Harold & Maude,
By All You Need Is Sushi "JFK" (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Harold & Maude, Original Soundtrack Recording (Vinyl)
Last night, there was a special showing of Harold & Maude in San Francisco, as a tribute to Bud Cort, who appeared on stage after the film. The house (THE CASTRO) was sold out and completely filled 40 minutes before the film started.
Someone in the balcony was having a serious breakdown following the film, and Bud came out mid-introduction to say "Mother, is that you? Turn it down to '20', would you please?". To the soundtrack - every reviewer here is spot on. The people who have control over this are plainly stupid. When a film is still so popular almost forty YEARS after its release, perhaps these people should be relieved of their duties and fitted with diapers or straightjackets. Cat Stevens, now going by YUSUF ISLAM, placed his best music in this film, and to hear both his AND Ruth Gordon's versions of "IF YOU WANNA BE FREE BE FREE" is a musical joy. Perhaps some energetic asian entrepeneurs (W's word, not mine!) might find a way to make all the items listed in the reviews available. It's worse than a shame that this hasn't been done. Even Maude would have trouble finding a way to feel positive about this.

A fantastic soundtrack to a fantastic movie,
By Sillage (Tucson, AZ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Harold & Maude, Original Soundtrack Recording (Vinyl)
This soundtrack is so phenomenal I almost leaves me speechless. Cat Stevens at his poetic best. These soul shaking songs are definitely worth a listen. And I appreciate that it's on vinyl, long live analog!

First off, this is NOT the original Cat Steven's Japanese record featuring the songs from Harold and Maude
this is a NEW record (2007/2008) but it is the ORIGINAL soundtrack. the sound track was not ever released so it is not a re-release - it is a new record (only 2500 released). with that said... this is the BEST thing i could have bought i have been hunting for the japanese release for years with no luck, but this is met and exceeded my expectations. it comes with a great book on the movie and the actors, funny trivia (elton john was a possible harold) and fun facts. the added material (poster, book, 7" vinyl) with the soundtrack is amazing i was a pic skeptical, but i can say as a H&M fan, buy it - buy it now... it is golden
