Product Description

Fancy Nancy is back! And when her family decides to get a dog she's certain she can be fancier than ever. After all a papillon-a small delicate fluffy dog-is the ultimate accessory. But her family wants a large plain dog. How unglamorous! With Fancy Nancy's trademark humor and warmth Nancy discovers that real fanciness does not depend simply on appearance but more on a genuine joie de vivre which is a fancy phrase for having lots of fun. This is yet another great Fancy Nancy story. My almost seven year old daughter, and her four year old brother, both love Fancy Nancy. My daughter's been a huge fan, ever since she received her first Fancy Nancy book at the age of two. In this story, Nancy is ecstatic because the family is going to get a puppy. She wants a dog just like their neighbor's Mrs. Devine. Mrs. Devine's dog, Jewel, is a Papillion, and, in Nancy's opinion, is a very posh dog.

Unfortunately, Nancy's parents are of the opinion that a Papillion is not an appropriate dog for their family. Determined to prove them wrong, Nancy gets the idea to puppy-sit for Jewel, so that her parents will see how happy they will be with a Papillion. As you might expect, all does not go well, and Nancy comes to see the error of her thinking. Ultimately, the family gets a dog from the pound...a La Salle spaniel, which Nancy's dad tells her, is a very unique breed of dog. Although Frenchy is not fancy, Nancy thinks she's the perfect dog for her family. She also realizes that maybe being unique is better than being fancy. LOL

As with all the Fancy Nancy books, this story is original, wonderfully written, and a lesson for the little ones...not to mention the fact that the illustrations are absolutely beautiful! Both my kids love this book, and highly recommend it...as a parent I concur!
