5.0 out of 5 stars What a help!!, January 21, 2005
This review is from: HarperCollins Language Survival Guide: France: The Visual Phrasebook and Dictionary (Paperback)
Went to France last year with a few guides and books, and this was by FAR the most helpful. I am also a very visual learner, so the section with what signs look like for pharmacies, tabac's, etc. was fabulous. It's dog-eared and worn, but I'm going back to Paris this year and wouldn't think of leaving it behind.

5.0 out of 5 stars Going to France? BUY THIS BOOK!, June 5, 2009
This review is from: HarperCollins Language Survival Guide: France: The Visual Phrasebook and Dictionary (Paperback)
I lived and worked in England for 6 years and visited France many times. This book was my bible and I recommended it to everyone. It doesn't just tell you how to get a train ticket, it shows you pictures of what a ticket will look like, what the ticket machine looks like, and how to read a timetable. I would never go to France without it (I purchased this newer edition because mine was falling apart!).

5.0 out of 5 stars The best investment, April 17, 2009
This review is from: HarperCollins Language Survival Guide: France: The Visual Phrasebook and Dictionary (Paperback)
We buy this series of language books for each country we visit, when available. They are invaluable, especially food items pictured. (Though I like trying local dishes, other countries ingest items I am REALLY not interested in gamblng on.) We have used this series in Spain, Germany, France, and Portugal. I have given it as gifts and people love it. Targets the useful things you need to know, not just phrases. Has sections on shopping, illness, local customs etc. Do not leave home without it.
