5.0 out of 5 stars Adventure, fun and laughs!, August 25, 2000
This is the first Piers Anthony book I have read and it got me hooked!

Gloha is a half goblin and half harpy. She wonders if she'll find a half goblin half harpy man to love. So she goes to ask the Great Magician. Instead of giving her an answer the Magician sends her on a wild quest. She meets new friends and adventure is magically weaved throughout the pages! In the end she found friendship ... but could it be love? No, how could it possibly be love if he's her kind of creature???

A fun read, full of puns and adventure!!! Recommended to anyone who likes or loves a nice book to smile about in the end! Have fun! :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book for anyone who loves fantasy..., November 10, 1999
By A Customer
I loved this book, it had hilarious puns and an easy to follow plot that was extremely easy to follow. But it wasn't all a no brainer...some things left you reeling because you weren't expecting it. If you like Piers Anthony, this MUST be read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Upbeat Xanth, May 12, 1996
By A Customer
This review is from: Harpy Thyme (Xanth) (Hardcover)
I know some of you are getting tiered of the Xanth series and even I agree that the last couple of books have started to lag behind Anthony's previous works, but he puts that behind him in this book. Harpy Thyme takes a fresh Xanth-like look at segregation and discrimination in its usual fluffy background. As common with most of Anthony's books its almost impossible to put this one down till your done

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastical romantic comedy, May 11, 2008
I never did have the chance to read much of the Xanth novels, but this is a sheerly adorable story that fits the wit and humor of Xanth as well as good ol'fashioned romantic comedy. Our heroine is a strange, beautiful creature, the daughter of a harpy and a gobling--therefore, she isn't quite sure what she is and if she will find her life's companion. The book is full of funs, whimsical fantasies, and some of the most charming characters one will ever come across. Anthony's writing is sparkling and funny, and leads out his unconventional romance with plenty of confidence.

5.0 out of 5 stars very, very cool, August 5, 1999

This has got to be one of the weirdest books I've ever read. But don't get me wrong..that's a good thing! This is the first Piers Anthony book I've read, and I hope he has more like this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fine light romance in Xanth, April 30, 2008
By
Gloha's quest to find a suitable husband leads her across several areas of Xanth. She interacts with a number of characters from previous novels in the series, as well as many new ones. As usual, the Good Magician's Answer is initially unclear to the main characters, but figuring out what he meant is a mini-quest that connects her to people she will need to complete her primary quest.

If you've enjoyed other novels in the Xanth series, you'll like this one too. If you haven't tried Xanth yet, and are willing to endure many puns, you'll find an enjoyable trip through a magical land. The story works its way into being a fine light romance with some interesting twists.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny, punny, (as usual)...You get the idea!, May 26, 2000
This was actually the first Xanth book I read, so I was kindaconfused about some things... But that's not relevant. This is aREALLY good book, for all you skeptics out there, and I should know. Demoness Metria was a really good addition (or annoyance) to the plot. What happens to her and her husband afterwards, I wonder? Amso, what was that about the Region of Madness and the Mundane guy with the potato chips? Oops, that's irrelevant. This book is REALLY, REALLY,GOOD! (I especially liked that part with the stare-way. Woe to any girls in skirts!) ~Dragonblade

5.0 out of 5 stars Wacky and hilarious! Read it to get in a better mood!, May 14, 2000
The title pretty much says it all. It's a wild and hilarious trek through the land of Xanth with a group of pun-obsessed heroes! I read this book when I was in a bad mood for a few days, and it helped quite a bit! Not that it's moving, deep, or motivational at all... It's just a feel-good book. Quite similar to those feel-good movies like "While You Were Sleeping."

I'd love to write a much longer review about this book, like my usual ones for Left Behind, but it's been about 2 years since I read it and I only just recently became an Amazon reviewer. Take my word: It's worth reading. Piers Anthony should be much better-known than he actually is.

5.0 out of 5 stars All hail Piers!, April 3, 2000
By A Customer
I found this book to be a beautiful love story, my favorite of the Xanth series. It is a humorous book filled with bad puns, as there are no good puns. Perfect for the fantasy lover and anyone else looking for good reading. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Truely one of the best books I've ever read., September 6, 1999
By A Customer
If you love fantasy then get ready to be blown away. Action, romance, and mystery, are the only words you have to use to describe this well written book. I did not like fantasy before I read this book, but now I realize that I was very wrong. So even if you dont think you like fantasy, just read this book and I bet you will change your mind.
