Grade 2-4AThe strength of these two titles is in the format. Divided into two parts, the books begin by briefly detailing the lives of their subjects, giving the most attention to what would become their life missions. Half-page watercolor-and-ink illustrations complement and provide detail for the texts. The presentations then go on to explain the actual significance of the individuals' work. Photographs are used in this part, adding a realistic aspect. In both books, the type is large; key words are printed in bold and defined in a glossary. The titles fall between the "First Start Library" (Troll) and David Adler's "Picture Book" series (Holiday).
