Product Description

About the Brand

Traditionally, Classic English Tea Merchants dedicated themselves to providing high quality teas in accordance with British tea industry standards. These standards were widely accepted in the Britain of the 1800’s and 1900’s vigorously applied so that the good and fine teas were selected, carefully blended in the right proportions, and offered for sale on the basis of clearly defined and widely accepted grades and standards. Unfortunately, over the years, quality levels were diluted in most of the western world. In the case of America, which has been primarily a coffee drinking nation, the experience and knowledge of the tea industry was never completely developed. While the U.S. has been in the forefront of production and innovation (e.g. the teabag, iced tea), the specific skills of tasting, buying and blending teas were not well developed.

To revive these standards for today’s tea consumer, a company was incorporated 6 years ago in England to revive these traditions of the original English tea merchants. Today’s Harrisons & Crosfield’s mission is to acquire the highest quality teas and natural flavourings to provide the broadest packaged product line in the industry. This means having our London tea buyers with many years experience select the teas and carefully blend or flavour them in the British tradition. The teas are then shipped in bulk to the U.S. to utilize the innovative packaging and production techniques of the U.S. The goal is to have the finest available premium teas packaged in the form that meets the needs of today’s consumer.

Our process:

  • Careful selection of the finest teas by our London based tea buyers. For flavoured teas, meticulous application of natural flavourings in the right proportion.
  • Organic tea products certified in England by Organic Farmers and Growers Ltd. Kosher processing in England supervised by the British Rabbi of National Kashruth
  • Teas shipped to US for final packaging in line with British Quality standards i.e. the proper amount of tea in a teabag. Organics certified again by PCO. Kosher processing under the supervision of the US Rabbi of National Kashruth.

Harrisons & Crosfield has the most complete and innovative line of tea products that are based on British standards - the proper amount of tea in a teabag, the use of only natural or organic flavouings, clearly and honestly stating leaf size or grade on all packages.

Harrisons & Crosfield teas are available in the following forms:

  • Organic and non-organic
  • Pyramid nylon bags, tagged teabags in stay fresh wraps, English style teabags, loose leaf in cartons and bulk
  • Black, green, white teas flavored and unflavored, herbals and decaffeinated
  • Single Estate & blends

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply the Best Breakfast Tea I've ever had., December 19, 2010

This review is from: Harrisons & Crosfield Scottish Breakfast Tea, 20-Count Tea Bags (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
I have been buying tea for 50 years and this is my favorite for the last 5 or 6 years. I do no not drink coffee anymore but this is as good as coffee in the morning to get you going. I have tried probably at least 75 brands of Breakfast Tea and this along with Yorkshire Gold and plain old P&G Tips are my favorites. You can buy all of these at Amazon but this is really the best of them all. A bit more expensive but a very tasty and strong blend without too much tannin or bitterness. I use milk or 1/2&1/2 in mine but I guess lemon would be OK. If you are wondering about the differences in English, Irish and Scottish blends, well this is only my opinion but the Scottish is stronger the Irish next and then the Brits. I came from Glasgow at 11 yrs old, spent 3 years in Cork County Ireland, 1 year in Dover(the White Cliffs of Dover if you are old enough to remember that song!) England and the last 51 years here in America. Thank Heaven I don't have to buy the popular brands here in supermarket, I never found one I liked till the Internets came to my house in 1996 before that I always ordered from the catalogues and paid a fortune in shipping from overseas. I'm a prime member and shipping is free on most things I buy and it gets here in 2 days! I love the Amazon it's my favorite site! Thanks Dolly Amato
