Early good ones!, June 11, 2010
This review is from: The Harry Bosch Mysteries (Paperback)
Last year I very reluctantly wrote a rather negative review of Michael Connelly's 9 Dragons, which I don't think is even close to his earlier Harry Bosch books. If you want to read him at his best, read these (also Angel's Flight, another favorite), all of which I own in hardback. This is the real old-fashioned "hard boiled" detective stuff, set in Los Angeles, about a tough cop who rubs nearly everyone the wrong way but is one of the good guys. Connelly really "gets" LA and after reading him, the reader gets it, too.

The First Bosch Books, June 19, 2007
This review is from: The Harry Bosch Mysteries (Paperback)
Great way to pick up the 1st 3 books in a single hardback. Connelly is one of the finest writers in the detective genre and Harry Bosch is a very enjoyable hero. I moved into this field after working thru most of the spy/action/tech/thriller series including Clancy, Brown, Brown, Bond, Coyle, Mills, Silva, Isles, Hagberg, LeCarre, Littel, Ludlum, Deighton, Griffen..... and I did so with a lot of trepidation as to whether they would really be the diverting all-nighters I had come to enjoy so much. What a pleasure to find Connelly and Harry Bosch! Enjoy!
