5.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't deserve that bad criticism!
I am surprised to see so many people rate this book poorly. For me it is one of the most exciting books I've read. Having read "The Switch" and loved it, I tried to find other books with the same idea and came upon this. I know that realistically it would be impossible for a young, proper lady of the regency to disguise herself as a young man, but I read romance to...

3.0 out of 5 stars The heroine didn't really use her brain
The plot for this book started off well, but throughout Henrietta's investigations she is lacking in a little thing called hard evidence. She only realizes her grievous mistake until after she tries to kill the man who supposedly murdered her brother Damien, at the Battle of Waterloo. I am surprised to see so many people rate this book poorly. For me it is one of the most exciting books I've read. Having read "The Switch" and loved it, I tried to find other books with the same idea and came upon this. I know that realistically it would be impossible for a young, proper lady of the regency to disguise herself as a young man, but I read romance to escape from reality, so I don't particularly mind.
Henrietta's outrageous antics to make Jason Cavender challenge her to a duel are funny and this first part comes in contradiction with the second, where Lord Harry is revealed as Lady Henrietta, which is darker and faster as a villain emerges who's after Henrietta.
A very engrossing read, not perfect as The switch, but highly entertaining nontheless.

3.0 out of 5 stars The heroine didn't really use her brain, March 4, 2000
The plot for this book started off well, but throughout Henrietta's investigations she is lacking in a little thing called hard evidence. She only realizes her grievous mistake until after she tries to kill the man who supposedly murdered her brother Damien, at the Battle of Waterloo. The end though was quite good, with a surprise ending that made me feel bad for Henrietta, despite her lack of witts. I do, however, love Cathrine Coulter books, and although this one isn't her best works, she is still a talented writer that has written many, many books that are definately worth reading.

This review is from: Lord Harry (Hardcover)
I liked the plot and how Hetty was determined to avenge her brother. Hetty was in deep mourning for her brother Damien who died at Waterloo. She receives a letter and believes the machinations of Jason cause her brothers death. She masquerades as Lord Harry so that she can duel with Jason. They do duel and secrets come out. The ending is quite a surprise. I really loved this book. It was wonderful.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOO HOO IT MAKES ME PROUD TO BE A WOMAN!!!!, May 26, 1999
By A Customer
You want a book full of laughter, laughter and more laughter? Then read Lord Harry.(NOW) Henrietta made me feel proud to be a woman. She put Jason right in his place. Now could a man have ever played a man , a woman, advenged his brothes death, act like a complete dolt at social parties, please his father, and woo a mistress with such finesse? I DON'T THINK SO.

Henrietta's antics kept you laughing until the very end, which proved rather emotional. Buy this book! You won't regret it. I've read it 5 times and still find myself enchanted by it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well written. The characters were real & enjoyable., September 3, 1996

I enjoyed everything about this book. The characters made me laugh& cry. Women will find strength in Henrietta's character. She suceeds where many women would not even dream to venture. I'm always skeptical when an author trys to make a female character come off as a man. I often find them unbelievable. However, not in this case. Coulter does a wonderful job.

Catherine Coulter is the Best of the best. I have read 39 of her books and just bought another 4. I can't put her books down until I've finished them. Lord Harry was most definately brilliant. I started laughing in the first chapter and did'nt stop until the book was finished. I would recommend that anybody who loves reading to read Catherine Coulter's books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lord Harry, May 13, 2004
This book was wonderful! I couldn't put it down. the vendetta "Harry" has against her brother's killer was a mystery. the whole book you are left in the dark about the true happenings of his death. The development between the Marquess and Hetty was interesting. All the time she was trying to hate him she slowly began to love him. It is a great read and I am looking forward to my next!

5.0 out of 5 stars Invigorating, March 6, 2000
I absolutely loved this book. It was wonderful. My favorite Coulter novel. Lord Harry is my idea of what women should be like. Outstanding, independant and with a mind of their own. To set out to prove that we're just as good as any man, when we put our minds to it. Go Catherine!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully entertaining, June 14, 1999

Lord Harry showed how truly different the lives of men and women were in that time period. The shananigans that he/she would get into. It was funny and yet suspenseful.
