""You're Aunt Rose's ring boy."

Harry's aunt is getting married, and he is going to be the ring bearer. But Harry has never been to a wedding before, and he isn't so sure he wants the job. What if something awful happens? What if he loses the ring...?

Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 2-6-- Harry has never had an uncle before, and he's well suited having just one aunt, Rose. Moreover his friend Dorcas has told him about her aunt's wedding, in which she had to be both flower girl and ring bearer. While juggling both tasks she dropped the ring, which fell down a crack, etc. etc. Harry is genuinely nervous, and says he will stay home rather than attend Aunt Rose's wedding. Too bad, father says, that's where the wedding will be. In the end, the ceremony goes along smoothly (except for a minor disturbance), and Harry receives a new watch from his uncle for being such a super ring bearer and nephew. Harry's following is growing with every new title in this outstanding series. It would be impossible to imagine the "Harry" books (Greenwillow) without Abolafia's warm and wonderful watercolor illustrations that bring the boy and his family to life. --Joan McGrath, Education Centre Library, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

From Kirkus Reviews

Fifth in a winning series about a boy whose dog lives with his aunt because his single dad is allergic; the boy's now embroiled in a wedding as warmhearted and casually interracial as Hughes's in The Big Alfie and Annie Rose Storybook (1989). The inevitable mishaps differ amusingly from friend Dorcas's doleful predictions (based on her experience as a flower girl); Abolafia again illustrates with affection and panache.
