Classics, but deathworld II is abbreviated, March 28, 2010
This review is from: The Harry Harrison Collection: 11 Novels and Short Stories in One Volume (Halcyon Classics) (Kindle Edition)
You've got to love the deathworld series, but be aware... deathworld II, while included in this collection, is an earlier version which was abbreviated, if you've read the full novel you will find about 1/3 of this version is cut suddenly short.

Bought this just for the Death World Book in it so the rest is pure cream., November 10, 2011
This review is from: The Harry Harrison Collection: 11 Novels and Short Stories in One Volume (Halcyon Classics) (Kindle Edition)
I wanted to be able to read Deathworld again. So for me all the rest of the books in this collection I get for free. I remember that I bought this first book and it cost me more than the price of this collection. It is sure nice to be able get all the extra reading for free. Not only that HH is just one heck of a great future writer. He can always make sure that the action is so much fun. Dang he makes it good for the reader drau

"Deathworld: Book I" What an amazing story, on par with Burroughs and Wells that shares their rythmic writing style, Harry Harrison has outdone himself with the "Deathworld" series. Action packed, cerebral, and engrossing, this story is a real trip. The anti-hero protagonist, Jason dinAlt, is a rouguish charmer and ex-gambler who will capture your imagination and have you cheering him on. Can't wait to read the sequels!!!"Deathworld: Book II" is an extraordinary continuation of the story from master storyteller Harry Harrison. I felt like I was there, that's how he writes, simply amazing! It's no wonder why this series is revered by sci/fi fantasy/adventure aficionados the world over. Filled with suspense, action, heroics, richly developed characters, and alien backdrops, the storyline is mesmorizing. A must read......"Planet of the Damned" by Harry Harrison. Another extraordinary story from the imagination and pen of Harry Harrison! Absolutely magnificent storyline featuring anti-hero Broin as the protagonist supported by Lea and Ult. If you enjoy otherworldly backdrops, elegant prose, linguistic aritifice, action, and suspense then you will want to read this book, its amazing!!!"Arm of the Law" by Harry Harrison is another imaginative short story featuring a very cool robot that will tickle your ribs with laughter...classic Harrison...one of the master storytellers in the sci/fi fantasy/adventure genre......"The K-Factor" by Harry Harrison. WOW!!! Harrison's imagination and originality come to the fore with this mesmorizing story based on societic philosphy and peacemaking between warring planets. A great short story from one of my favorite sci/fi adventure inditers......"The Misplaced Battleship" by Harry Harrison. What a great story from a master storyteller. Original and classic in every way this is one of the best sci/fi short stories I've ever read. Jim DeGriz is a roguish crook who is brought into the fold of the law abiding world. His instinctive investigative acumen makes a formidable foe to his adversaries......."The Repairman." Harry Harrison has often amazed me with his original storylines and incredible imagination on many occassions but with "The Repairman" he has outdone himself. This is an extraordinary story about a lighthouse, lizard like denizens, a lighthouse repairman, and a robot...it's fun and fantastic!!! "Navy Day" by Harry Harrison is not one of my favorite sci/fi short stories. It's peculiar and kind of wierd to say the least......"The Velvet Glove" by Harry Harrison. A truly amazing story featuring humanistic thinking robots with a conscience. I loved this story which further establishes Harry Harrison as a genius in the sci/fi fantasy/adventure genre. Truly a brilliant storyteller and indispensable pillar in the literary community!!!"Toy Story" by Harry Harrison. Not one of my favorite stories by Harry harrison...
