5.0 out of 5 stars Fun but proceed with caution.
These are a little fun as long as you know what you are getting into. If you are a kid these are a riot, maybe a better gag gift than anything else. Great for a party. But you have to proceed very carefully should you choose to try eating these. They are not kidding that they faithfully reproduced the idea from the book and movie about jelly beans that had bad flavors...

These are a little fun as long as you know what you are getting into. If you are a kid these are a riot, maybe a better gag gift than anything else. Great for a party. But you have to proceed very carefully should you choose to try eating these. They are not kidding that they faithfully reproduced the idea from the book and movie about jelly beans that had bad flavors along with good. Now they offer a chart you can compare the look of the bean to figure out what flavor a bean is before you bite. Thhey are made by the Jelly Belly company so they are the highest quality jelly beans with some of their typical really good flavors like cherry, etc. They have some no-typical flavors made just for this Harry Potter set called Wild Flavors, and they are pretty gross. But after all, kids love gross stuff so it's OK. The flavors are different in every box, so buy a few boxes to try them all.

You can recover from some of the bad flavors, such as grass, soap, dirt, spaghetti, sardines and earwax - they are authentic and taste like these items. But the vomit flavor may actually make you naseous, as it did to me. I could not get the taste out of my mouth for 2 days. See I bought mine before they started offering charts to check the flavor. So proceed cautiously, take a tiny test bite if it is hard to tell from the chart to avoid a nasty suprise. Some packages have a nice multicolor cloth bag included.

WARNING!! These are no longer made by Jelly Belly!! When they first came out, Jelly Belly handled them and they were great, yes even the nasty flavors...well, at least they were authentically flavored anyway. Now, evidently the folks at Warner Bros. decided to go cheap after the license ran out for jelly Belly. These new ones by some candy company I've never heard of are HORRIBLE. Even the ones that are supposed to taste good. They don't taste much like what they're supposed to and we had trouble figuring out what flavor was what. These don't taste much better than the cheapo jelly beans you can find at Easter. I had assumed based on the similar packaging that they were the same. The odd shaped little uglies should have given me a clue...Jelly Belly NEVER puts those in with their regular beans.

Unless you're just into torturing your palette, steer clear of these rip-offs. They're a poor substitute for the originals.

4.0 out of 5 stars Be Careful, June 14, 2009
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Harry Potter Bertie Bott's Jelly Beans Bag 3oz. (Misc.)
You need to be careful around these; they mean EVERY FLAVOR. Albus Dumbledore didn't lie, he came across one that was vomit flavor, and guess what? First one I had was vomit. It wasn't hard to discern. My mom refused (I'm a kid using my mother's name so don't think this reveiw is by an adult)to eat a single one. Some of them weren't too bad, but what I suggest is don't eat the whole bean, take a small bite, chew then eat the rest if you find it appealing. I think that if you had someone over play this little joke on them: Take the beans out of their little carrier then place them in a bowl. Then tell your friend they're "Jelly Bellies", they'll take one then I suggest you run and get them a glass of water. Look, try them, don't chicken out, at least eat the small bag of what you have. If you think they're okay buy more, if you thought they were some sick joke then don't buy anymore! Anyway, try a bag, they have some variety.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, but expensive, June 15, 2009

This review is from: Harry Potter Bertie Bott's Jelly Beans Bag 3oz. (Misc.)
These jelly beans are pretty fun for practical jokes as well as HP fans. I am amazed at how much the flavors really tase like what they are supposed to be. I remember once, I had what looked like cinnamon, but turned out to be vomit. What a nasty shock... Some flavors, however are quite good. I personnally liked the soap and dirt flavors, while earwax, sardine, and vomit are terryfying. If you want a fun/interesting bag of jellybeans, these fulfill.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what they used to be., April 20, 2010
This review is from: Harry Potter Bertie Bott's Jelly Beans Bag 3oz. (Misc.)
I was a fan of these, but they're not what they used to be. They're made by Frankford instead of Jelly Belly, and they're artificially flavored and waxy. The Gravy, Onion, and Pizza are authentic enough, but none of them are very tasty: not even the Blueberry or Pear. Recommended if you like artificially flavored and waxy jelly beans.

3.0 out of 5 stars Best Jelly Beans Ever! Worst Price Ever!, July 19, 2009
This review is from: Harry Potter Bertie Bott's Jelly Beans Bag 3oz. (Misc.)
These beans are very impressive and some of them pack quite a punch! I was surprised at how well they captured the flavors. Nearly everything tastes exactly like what it's supposed to! Personally, I'm a fan of the vomit flavored bean(call me crazy!), but they also have more pleasant flavors such as popcorn and bacon. Soap was also very impressive. Grass doesn't really taste like grass(I was a kid so I know!!!). This is a great product for parties, throw em in a bowl and watch the funny faces haha! The best way to go about eating these is to take the flavor guide and throw it in the trash. The point of these beans is to surprise you, that was there purpose in the movies and books. I give this item 3 stars simply because of the outrageous price, you can just as easily go to a candy shop and buy a box for under $2. Overall, this is a very fun product and I highly reccomend it to any Harry Potter fan

3.0 out of 5 stars Flavors are not the same as the originals, April 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Harry Potter Bertie Bott's Jelly Beans Bag 3oz. (Misc.)
The flavors have since been changed. Unfortunately, Bertie Bott's does NOT include the soap, dirt, earwax, sardine, and vomit flavors anymore. BB has toned down the flavors (which I think takes away from the appeal of these jelly beans). The current flavors are: Watermelon, Pear, Ketchup, Blueberry, Cheese, Pizza, Banana, Marshmallow, Sausage, Onion, Wild Cherry, Mashed Potatoes, Cinnamon, Gravy, Fish, Cranberry & Apple, Peach, Pink Grapefruit, Pepper, and Lemon.

I saw these at the local mall candy shop and they only had the new assortment of flavors as well. I decided to try purchasing these online (and pay the premium asking price) since I really wanted the old flavors and because some of the more recent reviews indicated that this seller had the original flavors. Of course, I should have e-mailed the seller first to confirm, but I don't really mind that much... It's still a fun gag gift, but not as crazy as the originals.

Very good product, but very expensive for the actual amount that you get. Shipping cost was outrageous.

Wow, I didn't think they'd actually have those flavors. I thought it was a joke. Then... ewww! But, I got mine on clearance at a local store for $1.25 (and now I know why they were cheap). I tossed the candy inside and filled it up with regular Jelly Belly beans, which I love. It'll be perfect to stash in my purse to eat at the premiere of the next film.
