4.0 out of 5 stars A step-up from the previous 2 games.
I'm not sure whether I love this game or not, but it was definitely 100x better than OotP and GoF.
The graphics are awesome (especially the view of Hogwarts and the surroundings), the tasks were fun though at times repetitive, and the gameplay was overall great, though lack certain things.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as previous HP games
I was pretty disappointed in HP and the Half Blood Prince. It is not nearly as fun as the previous two HP games - Order of the Phoenix and Goblet of Fire. In the Order of the Phoenix - the last one - there were many tasks to complete and many things to "figure out" and make you think. To me - this video game really lacks imagination. There are just the same three tasks to do over and over and over again - making potions, dueling, and playing quiddich. I like making the potions and flying - I don't care for the dueling - but it just seems like you are constantly doing these same things. Like I said - no imagination. It seems to me also that the graphics are not as good either. This game really has the feel of just being "thrown together" by the makers. I am by no means a gamer - so if I can finish this game in two days - that is really telling you something. It took me the whole summer to complete the Order of the Phoenix. If you are a big fan of HP (which I am) - then go ahead and try it, but otherwise I wouldn't bother

I got this to play as harry potter, trying to figure out things like who the half blood prince is, and the tale of Voldemort and how he came to be. NOT to play potions, quidditch, and dueling. Very disappointing. 3/5

2.0 out of 5 stars not very Challenging, August 31, 2009

This game is good to rent not buy. You can solve it in about a day and nothing is very challenging, especially since I only play playstation about every 6 months

The concept was good with the potion making but again not very challenging all around

I'm not sure whether I love this game or not, but it was definitely 100x better than OotP and GoF.
The graphics are awesome (especially the view of Hogwarts and the surroundings), the tasks were fun though at times repetitive, and the gameplay was overall great, though lack certain things.

In this game you can duel in the Duel Club, brew potions (really fun for girls like me) and play quidditch.
But other than that, I think this game misses something. They can make a whole lot of other things with it but instead, we only got to do tasks (which mainly consists of you trying to find someone/something, or brewing potions) and fight people.

Overall, this game is fun. If you're a Harry Potter fan, I suggest you give it a try. But if you're not, you won't miss anything by not buying it.

The graphics are good and much easier to get from place to place. And the flying is much improved.

Pros:

1. great graphics
2. great storyline
3. great spells and gameplay
4. almost perfect

Cons:

1. The werewolf death eater never changes in the game or film
2. no great battle in the castle in the film or game, none in the film, harry fights 2 death eaters in the game, that's it.
3. after you beat the game, nothing to do, hard to find any side missions.

i bought this game kinda on a whim because i had recently finished a game i had been working on for a long time, and i have to say first of all that this game is NOT a bad game at all. Its a little different from previous harry potter games in the series such as 2,3,and 4 because they changed the castle and how you cast spells. If you have played the fifth harry potter game it is more like that one than many of the other games. One thing i loved was they made the castle more intricate, which for a gamer like me who loves to explore, is great and it stuck to the story line alot more than i thought they would but it was more closely related to the movie where they left out ALOT of things from the book. I disliked the way they have you cast spells now though, instead of pressing the square, circle, or triangle buttons they now have you complete a series of movements with the joysticks which in some ways makes it more realistic (well...as realistic as a game about magic and wizards can be...) but it also makes it kinda unnecessarily difficult in that you dont always cast the right spell or sometimes you don't even cast the spell at all if you didn't do the motion right. Another thing i noticed about this game was that it was INCREDIBLY short. like i said previously, i bought this game because i had just finished a game i had been working on for a long time, lets just say the next day i was back picking out a new game because i beat it so quickly. All in all, this is a really fun game but could be made a little better if they changed the way you cast spells and made it longer....

This is a great game I love the potions making thing, Dueling, And flying. The Game it self was easy to go through I was done with is like in one day. But I really like how you can go back and collect your crest's. The Graffics where awsome!
Shipment was crazy fast!
