Let Harry inspire your kids to write!,
By A mom of Harry fans (Washington, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Harry Potter Hogwarts Journal (Hardcover)
Harry Potter has inspired our children to read. Now, with a journal, he can inspire them to write!I never suspected my "do-I-have-to-read?" ten-year-old would want to curl up with a book, but J. K. Rowling's brilliant series have shown her the joys of opening a page and becoming part of a magical world. Now my dyslexic eight-year-old is trying to read them too! Both of them are the proud owners of Harry Potter journals, and what do you know? They're writing! What better gift could you give a child than something that expands their minds and encourages their creativity?

Every Muggle should have one!,

This is a wonderful journal. The illustrations on the cover are fantastic. Very colorful and eyecatching. I bought this for my son who is a big Harry Potter Fan. A hard cover protects your thoughts and I fully expect this journal to hold up over time. It's very well made!

I didn't really like it,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Harry Potter Hogwarts Journal (Hardcover)
It's a nice cover, as journal covers go, but the inside isn't as good. The pages aren't lined, which makes writing messy and confusing. The headings take up a lot of space, and ruin its purpose as a journal- they limit creativity. I don't think it is worth the money for a journal without lines that tells you what to write.

Don't be deceived--this is NOT a Harry Potter STORY,
By Dr. Christopher Coleman (HONG KONG) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Harry Potter Hogwarts Journal (Hardcover)
As far as Harry Potter merchandise goes, the Hogwarts Journal isn't too bad. It seems far more intriguing to most kids than garbage like those horrid pieces of plastic which are supposed to be "magic stones." The journal is a spiral bound notebook, with appropriately Potter-y art and design on the front and inside. It comes with two full-sized pages of stickers with very colorful and well-executed pictures. Some kids will think that the stickers alone are worth the price--whether their parents will agree is questionable. Inside the journal are some topic headings--nothing more than three or four lines. Page backs have no writing at all. And herein lies my primary concern about this product--that if a child is expecting HARRY POTTER'S Hogwarts Journal, they are sure to be disappointed. This is not a storybook--it contains no stories, no plot, no characters. It is a fancy notebook, a place for children to draw and write, not for them to read about Harry Potter's Hogwarts experience. As such, the Harry Potter tie-in is sure to encourage children to be creative and I have to applaud it for that. But I do think the huge "Harry Potter" on the cover could easily be misleading. My other qualm is that for the price only 64 pages seems discouragingly miserly, especially compared to the Harry Potter books with about seven times the number of pages, all with printing that had to be typeset--and a STORY! The escalating cost of textbooks is always a concern, but with "bargains" like this, who could ever afford the cost of tuition at Hogwarts?

High-quality materials, great opportunity for creativity.,
By Jane James "homeschoolmum" (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Harry Potter Hogwarts Journal (Hardcover)
This is unlike most journals in that, instead of blank pages, it's got some idea-starters for kids. I have found it's easier for my kids to think of things to write about if they have something to start from. This one has various lists of things started already for the young writer. For instance, the topic will be provided: "Things to bring to Hogwart's school" and then some examples will be listed: cauldron, owl, broomstick, etc. Then the writer can add more things that should be taken to Hogwart's, according to the book. Or things HE would take to Hogwarts, like a favorite baseball cap or something like that. OR he could make a separate list on the opposite (blank) page of things he would take to HIS school. There is plenty of room for creativity here! I think this is a great way to encourage writing in children. The text and graphics are aesthetic and fun, and the paper and binding are very high quality and nice to use. Highly, highly recommended for all aspiring wizards!

It's Just a Bit o' Fun,
By Holly Smith (Atlanta, GA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Harry Potter Hogwarts Journal (Hardcover)
This journal is certainly not an essential item in anyone's household, but it is quite fun and well worth the price. The journal is pretty to look at and fun to use. I bought two...one to keep and one to use. I might get a couple more as Christmas gifts. I'd recommend this item to anyone who likes feeling a little more young at heart.

Hogwarts Journal is fun for boys or girls,
By A Customer
This review is from: Harry Potter Hogwarts Journal (Hardcover)
Many journals are geared toward young girls to record their secrets, but this one combines our love for Harry Potter and Hogwarts with a fun activity book that boys would also enjoy. There are stickers and decorated pages along with captions to help you get started recording special events or private thoughts. I purchased this book for a 10 year old, but I think it would be fun for kids 8 - 14 years old.

Great For All Wizards/Witches!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Harry Potter Hogwarts Journal (Hardcover)
I have four words to start this off: It's Worth The Money. Wizards and Witches of all ages will love this book! Muggles can use it too. You can record teachers, friends, enemies, sports, and more. It also comes with two pages of brightly colored Hogwarts-Themed stickers. I love it. The pages are blue-tinted with drawings of things such as the Mirror of Erised, The Little Package that Hagrid takes from vault 713, the Snitch, and more!
