Through the innovative Kinect capability, each player can scan their face to create a wizard avatar in their likeness – and then play as their avatar in the game. Utilizing controller-free and voice recognition technology available only on Kinect, players will attend Hogwarts, interact with professors, students and friends, call out spells to cast against opponents, brew potions, and even fly as they race on broomsticks to be the first to catch the Golden Snitch in a Quidditch match. Harry Potter for Kinect allows players, for the first time, to attend Hogwarts as part of the wizarding world.

2.0 out of 5 stars Read Reviews.. October 29, 2012
Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
I will forever read reviews before buying another video game for kinnect. The kinnect is a really cool thing, but some of the games that come along with it can be pretty hit or miss, and as a forever HP fan, I have to say this game is a giant miss. Year one literally has four things to unlock, and the only challenge you encounter trying to reach voldemort before he gets the stone, is the flying keys, and you don't even get to fly around? I finished year one in literally 25 minutes... I was expecting more experience for a fifty dollar game. I give two stars for the graphics, they are vey realistic and well done. However, as stated in a different review, your avatar looks pretty ridiculous, and you have three choices for hair male or female. You don't get to make it look anything like you. With all of the cool scenes and challenges they could have put into this game, it could have been made a million times better and more exciting. Just purchased tonight and will probably be returning tomorrow :(
If your going to put the HP name on something, give fans the magical experience they are expecting.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting game, provides good experiences October 9, 2012

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
This is an interesting game. It allows you to experience major scenes in the movie. It gives instructions on what to do to move ahead, and then more scenes get unlocked. We have only done one year of Hogwarts so far, so I guess it will keep getting better. My only peeve is that the first year flew by so quickly - there were other scenes that they could have included.

5.0 out of 5 stars So Much Fun March 29, 2013

I love this game and all the fun that comes with it. Pretending to wave a wand around in front of my Kinect is hilarious. The game itself is definitely enjoyable and perfect for any Harry Potter fans like me.

1.0 out of 5 stars If only "magic" could fix this game... October 26, 2012
A Kid's Review
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
This did not meet my high expectations. It was no fun.I proceeded through year one far too quickly. This game also read my motions wrong, and I am a regular user of the kinect. I quit the game at the start of year two.

What disappointed me most was the custom you're wizard. Man is is it cheap looking! It just posts a picture of you're face on the 3D avatar. So instead of looking like you, you look more like Voldemort on the other side of Professor Quirrel's face.

With Disney kinect games, it takes a picture of you and it does a better job. They give you the options of you're eye color, hair color, hair length, and skin color. I thought they would do this with this game, but they did not. I was looking forward to see what house I would get sorted in, and what my custom wand would be.

The voice acting is decent, but it's a little bland, and flat. The graphics were pretty good, but I have seen better. This was a waste of my hard earned money... I am another BIG Harry Potter fan, and this was a pile of SH*T. Excuse my french. But it just was such a waste of money! Thank goodness for receipts.

Thanks for reading this review. You may disagree with me, so leave a kind comment telling me what you liked about this... On the other hand you may not, I would be quite glad to have a comment agreeing with me.

This is off topic, but after this gaming experience cheer you're self up by watching a bunch of Potter Puppet Pals videos. Or look at Smosh's Harry Potter comics.

We've already run into a spot in the game where kinect will not recognize our actions ... can't proceed past the first encounter with voldmort. Very frustrating so far ...

If you're a Harry Potter fan, this is a must. The spell casting and dueling is amazing, although movie mode is a bit short. Really fun overall! Love it!

My kids are excited to play something together. They get to fly on brooms and place spells on screen instead of pretend.
