Book Description

For the first time ever, musical selections from the first five Harry Potter movies are available in one jam-packed collection. These all-time favorite themes have been arranged in traditional five-finger style, with the melody split between the hands, and without key signatures in the student part. Starting hand positions are illustrated above each piece. Fingerings that are outside the noted five-finger positions and those indicating a shift in hand position are circled for easy identification. Dotted quarter notes, triplets and sixteenth notes have been avoided. All of the pieces have optional duet accompaniments created to achieve a fuller, richer musical experience. Elementary-level pianists will love playing these arrangements, which faithfully render the magical music of John Williams, Patrick Doyle, and Nicholas Hooper. Full color art pages from each movie are included. Titles: Double Trouble * Dumbledore's Army * Fireworks * Hagrid the Professor * Harry in Winter * Harry's Wondrous World * Hedwig's Theme * Hogwarts Forever! * Hogwarts' Hymn * Hogwarts' March * Neville's Waltz * Nimbus 2000 * Potter Waltz * The Quidditch World Cup (The Irish) * Voldemort.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Really Big Note March 24, 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a great book, however, as a beginning piano teacher, I don't feel that it's accurate to call it "Big Note." I have experience with other musical pieces described as big note, and this one falls more under the category of "Easy Piano." The version that I also purchased that is rated "Easy Piano" has generally the same pieces, but they are slightly more advanced than Easy Piano (although not as far as intermediate and definitely not advanced). The version that is "Big Note" is more of a later beginner's book. Both books, though, make the pieces sound quite like the music in the movies, so students should be happy that they are playing the actual music, which is often a problem with "Big Note" pieces--they don't often sound enough like the real music.

I'm happy with my purchase, I just wouldn't expect an early beginner to enjoy that much challenge.

I am a piano teacher, and ordered the kindle edition to cut down on clutter... this is the first time I ever purchased sheet music in Kindle format. I learned a lesson... There are two lines per page. This can be quite annoying.

The music is great for a late beginner, and I have recommended one of my students purchase it for supplemental studies.

I am going to email amazon and request a refund and order the print book.
Do not order the kindle version... you will be disappointed!

I will up to 5 stars once I am receive the print copy, or if Amazon optimizes the kindle version.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple But Challenging For The Early Beginner July 26, 2013
Format:Sheet music|Verified Purchase
I bought this for my son who is currently finishing up level 1 Piano Adventures and is currently obsessed with everything Harry Potter. The songs are simple 5 note (two hands) melodies with enough accidentals and motion to keep him challenged.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good arrangement January 1, 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a good arrangement of different pieces from the first five Harry Potter movies. The music was a little easy, but sounded like the actual soundtrack, with a few differences in key, and simplifications. These pieces are good for a person with a couple of years of experience with playing the piano, so more experienced players might find these pieces a little boring to play, and should probably try the "Piano Solos" version of this book rather than the "Big Note Piano" series.

This music was too difficult for my 13 year-old son. He keep trying. The book is beautiful. Arrived on time and in great condition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice collection of songs! January 10, 2014
Format:Sheet music|Verified Purchase
I was very pleased that Hedwig's Theme (the Harry Potter theme song) was included in this collection! It's my favorite in all the Harry Potter music. This collection is relatively easy to play, and I'm a beginner.
